Could there already be other sealed indictments?

Fri Oct 28, 2005 at 01:14:06 PM PDT

Toronto's Cloak Newswire, a decidedly nutty and unreliable source, just reported (at www.cloakanddagger.de, the same folks who believe that the Iraq war is causing hurricanes) that three more sealed indictments were delivered by Fitzgerald today. While my first response is to laugh and dismiss it, we did hear from sources earlier in the week that Fitzgerald was to seek 1-5 indictments, and that the number would be at the higher end of that.

The concept of a sealed indictment, as I understand it, is that it would be filed without public knowledge and proceedings could take place without public knowledge. This makes sense for a matter of national security.

This also makes sense if the anonymous star added to the CIA's Wall of Honor in 2003 actually does correspond to a CIA operative killed in hostile territory as a result of this leak.

What do you think?

AFA poll: Intelligent Design v. Evolution!

Thu Aug 04, 2005 at 02:08:01 PM PDT

The AFA has a new poll up regarding whether evolution or "Intelligent Design" should be taught in public schools. It'd be pretty easy to show them that support is overwhelming for evolution - let's freep this poll, folks!

AFA Poll

Last year, we did the same thing to their poll regarding support for gay rights - I see no reason we can't do it again!

Lance Armstrong is a Democrat!

Sun Jul 17, 2005 at 06:11:34 PM PDT

It's been mentioned recently that Lance Armstrong had expressed an interest in running for governor of Texas. There was some question as to whether he was left-wing or right-wing, although I believe it was put forward that his girlfriend, Sheryl Crow, is very left-wing.

Turns out he could be the perfect candidate. Today on OLN it turns out he's a Democrat! "Left of center, against the war in Iraq, and pro-choice" were the notable comments.

I think the UK Times Online also had an article about this recently.

What are you doing to help?

Sat May 21, 2005 at 02:59:26 PM PDT

I'm not talking about writing letters or making phone calls - those things help, but it should be clear by now that everything we're trying to fight for and against is affected more than anything else by a flow of dollars.

I strongly suspect that in order to actually change the march toward a police state, individuals have to make the most impact they, personally, can on the finances of the companies we seem to accept have a large role in running our country.

So, whose products are you using? What do you buy? Ideally, I'd like to see some of us start paying attention to every penny that we spend and thinking "hm, that's $400 over the course of a year - do I need to be giving that company that much money?"

There are a lot of options out there. Here are a few interesting ones that many people can use:

We're fighting the same small battles.

Mon May 09, 2005 at 11:37:34 AM PDT

Over and over, I watch the same battles fought. Abortion, civil rights, school funding, clean air and water. I see dense cities being very left-wing, and sprawling suburbs, isolationist, being very right-wing.

As we get closer together, as we share roads, sidewalks, public transportation, we start to see the benefits of things like good libraries, strong public education, universities. Joe Republican in his two year old development house in the suburbs doesn't see why he should pay for a light rail system in the city. His lawn is pristine - he doesn't see any impact of the chemicals he uses downstream, because there aren't all that many people nearby. He drives to the Wal-Mart because their prices seem low, and they have everything he wants in one place.
