My Wonderful Congressional District
Fri Jun 01, 2007 at 10:26:29 AM PDT
I just attended a town hall meeting with Congressman Frank Lucas, Oklahoma's 3rd District Congressman. He managed to both slur Nancy Pelosi and blame environmentalists for illegal immigration in a short space of time.
So I wrote the White House today
Thu Sep 01, 2005 at 02:21:03 PM PDT
asking to send food and water to NO NOW and here's the response I got:
"On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence. We appreciate hearing your views and welcome your suggestions. The President is committed to continuing our economic progress,
defending our freedom, and upholding our Nation's deepest values.
Due to the large volume of e-mail received, the White House cannot respond to every message. Please visit the White House website for the most up-to-date information on Presidential initiatives, current events, and topics of interest to you.
Thank you again for taking the time to write."
Bold as Brass: first priority is "our economic progress." The fools haven't even updated the site re NO. Naturally, I knew I would get an automatic response, but since the rethugs are so "efficient," I thought they would at least have updated their response. Perhaps it just reflects their entire lack of concern about the thousands suffering and dying.
Encouraging News from Oklahoma City

I'm happy to report that there are still some sane people in a state run by religious nuts. A friend and I went to see, "Enron - The Smartest Guys in the Room" yesterday at the downtown museum in Oklahoma City and it was sold out. Since this is the only venue for art films or documentaries in town, I've been there many times and have never seen all the seats taken before. I'm taking this as a sign some people are starting to get the Big Picture.
And a couple of weeks ago, we had 200+ people show up at a demonstration at the state capitol for Cindy Sheehan. Saw old friends from the previous anti-war movement & women's movement in the '70's. Media coverage was horribly slanted, but people did come to support Cindy.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
