A prayer for the Rethugs and others

Sat Mar 29, 2008 at 04:27:44 PM PDT

I just got off the phone with my fundie sister. Yet another conversation that started off ok on technical Internet connectivity issues which turned out to be a bad router and then quickly devolved once the topic was turned (by her) to politics. Sigh. Then it went to religion and got worse.

She is depressed overall since for her the election was lost once McSame got the nomination. If Hillary is nominated my sister will vote against Hillary (for McSame, but she can't bring herself to vote for him.) She can't stand Obama and will not vote for him under any circumstances.

She is a typical Rethuglican fundie in that she would rather believe than think, totally believes anything they say on Fox News, knows all the verses in the Bible but doesn't seem to understand what the words actually mean, was on welfare at one point but now wants to pull the ladder up behind herself so no one else can "freeload".

They are voting in Mukasey NOW!!

I just saw it on MSNBC, the debate leading to the confirmation vot eis going on now! in the Senate.

"Love thy enemy"...Could this be the end of the war?

Fri Oct 19, 2007 at 05:10:18 PM PDT

Love thy enemy is what Jesus said. You never hear people say that any more either really. Not the Bush type of Christians for sure...but maybe we can hear more of it shortly.

I just read  this story via Reuters and this could become a groundswell if it spreads. One Capt. Peter Brown, who has been in Iraq and graduated from West Point, has just managed to get out of the military as a conscientious objector due to his Christian beliefs.

Hey Congress! You want to get better approval ratings?

Thu Jul 12, 2007 at 06:48:28 AM PDT

You have been doing well, especially Sen. Leahy in his excellent takedown of Sara Taylor here, but you have to keep it up to earn back our approval. Here is how you can start, maybe as early as today.

Send the bill back up after the veto!

Tue Apr 24, 2007 at 05:00:45 PM PDT

I just called Sen. Reid's and Rep. Pelosi's offices, and politely asked them to pass on a suggestion I just thought of.

Send the same Iraq bill back up.

I think that it will be very difficult to negotiate a new bill, and that if it gets changed too much we will lose votes and possibly get defeated in a vote.

BREAKING! RNC emails deleted?

Wed Apr 11, 2007 at 05:55:35 PM PDT

I was just browsing, and noticed this little gem.

WASHINGTON - The White House said Wednesday it had mishandled Republican Party-sponsored e-mail accounts used by nearly two dozen presidential aides, resulting in the loss of an undetermined number of e-mails concerning official White House business.

I knew this was coming. They sure hate the sunlight Henry Waxman and Pat Leahy are shining on them, and I was frustrated after hearing about these emails initially, thinking to myself, "they are as good as gone now".

What should Kossacks call the situation in Iraq? (Poll)

So I was sitting around today watching the news, reading some blogs, and there is this big debate on what exactly we should be calling the situation in Iraq after the release of the NIE.

Dear Sen. Reid, (Updated with right Senator)

Tue Jan 30, 2007 at 06:59:37 AM PDT

How many times are you going to let Joe "Only In It For Myself" Lieberman stab us ALL in the back before you do something? Seriously, the waste-of-skin that he has proven himself to be deserves no respect, no special treatment, and a great many of us out here think he needs to be taken down. Not later, but NOW.

Make sure Joe Leiberman gets this message

Fri Jan 12, 2007 at 09:30:00 PM PDT

I just read this article, courtesy of the The Raw Story, in which Israeli experts have concluded that Bush's policies have made the US and world less safe than before. And they also stated that it would be better for the US to pull the troops out of Iraq now INSTEAD of adding troops as the Dear Leader wants to do.

New Bush Joke

I just wrote a Bush joke, if you think it is funny, pass it on...

Was anyone just watching Fox News?

OMG!! Can you believe what they just showed on FOX News?

RIPPED OFF!! Don't get Time Warner service!!!

Thu Nov 09, 2006 at 01:24:15 PM PDT

Well, Time Warner just screwed me. I don't want to go through the whole story, but basically they kept my account open, after I told them to close it, for one day into the new billing period. When I called to complain, I was told that a credit would be issued to zero out the account. Needless to say, the credit was never issued and they are still billing me for a charge they never should have put on there in the first place.

Now they are going to send it to a collection agency, so I have no real choice but to pay it, but I sure hope to cost them a LOT more than the amount in question, which is 12.46.

Please do not get Time-Warner services of ANY kind if you have an alternative. They are corporate scum and had no compunctions about screwing me and then telling me that there was nothing they could do.

Nobody trusts the machines here!!

Tue Nov 07, 2006 at 04:51:42 PM PDT

Well, I just got back from my local precinct, and I was pleasantly surprised at the number of people there waiting in line. Now, obviously, I don't like to wait in line either, but it was heartening seeing a lot of people there.

However, the big surprise was that NOT ONE PERSON was choosing to use the electronic touch screen machines when given the choice between a touch screen with NO LINE and having to wait up to 5 minutes for a booth in which to fill out the paper form which is scanned electronically. Literally no one trusted the touch screen.

This may be the last election with no paper trail if the Republemmings here feel that way too.

First Diary: Don't call them "incompetent"

Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 09:00:06 PM PDT

What many people do not seem to understand is that Bushco is doing EXACTLY what they intend, which is to destroy the government in all but name by the time they leave. They are in fact frightenly competent at their real goal.

There are so many truly incompetent people and cronies in the bureacracy that the truly well meaning people who do work in government cannot keep the system working.

They are destroying the essential trust, "The consent of the governed", in the government by its citizens without which the government can do nothing to stem the corporations rapacious greed and urge to control what they can.
