They are back live!

Live from Washington D.C. the annual droolfest known as the White House Correspondents' Dinner is taking place.

The banquet is being broadcast on C-Span and also online at c-span.org.

Right now, C-SPAN is broadcasting the annual Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner for the Iowa Democratic Party.

As the Iowa Independent states:

In addition to the Big Six - the batting order is Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Dodd, Clinton and Obama -- attendees will hear from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Iowans Senator Tom Harkin, Governor Chet Culver, Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge and Congressman Leonard Boswell.

This is a great chance to see all of our candidates in one place.

Willie Nelson cited for drug possession

I am shocked.

Singer Willie Nelson and several members of his band were issued misdemeanor citations for drug possession early Monday during a Louisiana traffic stop.

If the Texas legend was given a misdemeanor citation, in Louisiana of all places, then it must not have been a lot of dope.

Trooper Willie Williams of the Louisiana Highway Patrol said a search of the bus turned up about 1.5 pounds of marijuana and about two-tenths of a pound of mushrooms.

In the mythical land called Scarborough Country last evening a very tiresome face appeared. Kinky Friedman. The topic was about the Lamont/Lieberman election and its outcome.

I was expecting to hear his same old 9 jokes but what he said actually suprised me.

Our dear president is flying all over the world this week.

While President Bush is busy giving away nuclear tehnology to India, visiting Afghanistan, and Pakistan it makes me ask the question, why not go to the UAE? He is next door to them right now.

Ok, so I do not have any proof at all that this is going to happen, but a couple of things seem pretty strange in Grandma's campaign.

The word "Republican" is conspicuously absent from her campaign web site, I only saw it mentioned twice under "news", no big elephants, no word "Republican" plastered on the front page.

Strayhorn has not yet filed to run for the governor job yet, and  the Republican Party has decided that Susan Combs should take Strayhorn's job as comptroller.

Bob Gammage announced today that he is seeking the Democratic nomination for Governor of Texas.
Gammage will face off against Chris Bell in the primary, Bell is not happy about this and his office has issued a very a republican like response, calling Gammage cut-and-run Bob.

Gammage is a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, a former justice on the Texas Supreme Court, former member of the Texas House and Senate, as well as the U.S. House.
