Confessions of an Ex-Commuter

Since World War II ended, the return of servicemen and the birth of the nuclear family led to an exodus from the urban cores of American cities to the former outlying countrysides, now called suburbs.
All appeared well until shrinking dollars and growing gas prices made the suburban commuting lifestyle the liability that it really is. After putting up with it a few months, I had to ask, how could anyone tolerate such madness?
