Policeman Caught in Taped Shooting Gets Only Att. Vol. Manslaughter Charge

Wed Mar 08, 2006 at 07:29:48 AM PDT

Welcome to California.  Where the cops tell you to get up, then shoot you for obeying orders.

What is the most disturbing part of the ongoing saga of Deputy Ivory Webb shooting Iraq War Veteran Elio Carrion?

Is it the fact that this whole incident would have been swept under the rug as a "justified shooting" if not for the videotape? (Thank you Rodney King.)  Or is it the fact that cops are still treated with kid gloves when they commit heinous crimes like rape, murder, and child molestation?  (If you don't think it happens, then you've never worked for a police department.)

Hackett or Brown (with poll)

Mon Feb 13, 2006 at 11:59:07 AM PDT

What's the deal with Ohio?  In a state where we have a legitimate shot of winning the governor's race and with a vulnerable republican senator defending his seat, we should be unifying around a candidate quickly.

Instead, we have Rahm Emanuel, Chuck Schumer, and Harry Reid publicly and privately asking Paul Hackett to get out of the race.

What is the reasoning behind this?  Isn't "Fighting Dems" the theme this year?

Why the sudden exodus from the Hackett Campaign?

Is Reid just looking for yes-men?

Guns or abortion?

Mon Jan 30, 2006 at 07:33:59 PM PDT

It's an odd query, but one that I have wondered about for a while.

If we had to choose between either a candidate who was:

1. pro-gun, but pro-choice,

or

2. pro-gun control, but pro-life

which would we choose.

Me, I'd probably go with the latter.

But I'd be interested in seeing where everyone else is on these issues.

Vote "Yes" on Prop 77 in California!!!

Sun Nov 06, 2005 at 10:30:08 AM PDT

I am sick and tired of partisan gerrymanders keeping dems out of office in Ohio, Florida, and, especially, Tom Delay's Texas.

Markos showed incredible leadership last month when he encouraged us to vote "yes" on Prop 77.

I have voted for it, and I hope that many, if not all, of the Californias to post and read here will join me.
