Candidates registering web sites for Presidential runs (Republican Version) + Poll

Sat Mar 12, 2005 at 09:28:53 PM PDT

I saw in another diary a link to this site, www.Regestersitego.com, and thought it would be interesting to see who has been registering potential presidential candidates in 2008.

Below the jump are what I found when just researching the Republican candidates and I found some very interesting information.

Bush Turns Back on Religious Right Again

Fri Jan 21, 2005 at 05:26:02 PM PDT

Kos wrote an excellent piece on the Bush Adminstration's flip-flop on the gay marriage amendment and the subsequent angry reaction from the religious right.

The Inaguration should reinforce this message from the Bush Administration. Lord knows that everything in the inaguration was scripted, from the makeup Bush wore to the positioning of the secret service agents.

So I know that they intentionally had Mary Cheney hold the bible while her father was sworn in.

Washington Recount

Thu Dec 09, 2004 at 10:36:14 AM PDT

The race for governor in Washington is still ongoing. The hand recount, the checking of every single vote (hopefully) in the state, has commenced and some interesting results have occurred.

Only three counties have reported and their combined results give Dino Rossi a net gain of +5. However, they are all counties that went for him in the general election.

Garfield- 428 Gregoire, 840 Rossi (no change)
Mason-11,797 Gregoire, 12,519 Rossi (G + 9, R + 12)
Skamania-2,233 Gregoire, 2,525 Rossi (G +1, R +3)

I would love to hear what people, especially Washington residents, have to say about this and if this really expected. Of course, I know that King county will most likely be the deciding factor.

This is a great site for the results

Heres a good story too about the recount and pending lawsuit

Political News: Arnold on the warpath and more

Thu Dec 02, 2004 at 12:55:40 PM PDT

There is a lot going on around the country that we have to keep track of.

News occurring in New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, California and more

California is the most interesting as it may have serious consequences to the political landscape.

Barbara Ehrenreich at my school

Tue Nov 30, 2004 at 02:25:17 PM PDT

So today, as part of a lecture series that happens at my high school, Barbara Ehrenreich, journalist, liberal activist, and most recently, author of Nickel and Dimed: On Not Getting By in America, came and spoke. How it works is that during the day, the speaker speaks to thirty or so high school students who have signed up and at night, speaks to the auditorium, filled with anyone who wants to come (and got tickets in adavance)

Exit Polls proof of vote fraud???

Sat Nov 06, 2004 at 03:09:00 PM PDT

You all know Dick Morris as the disgraced, yet successful campaign manager of Bill Clinton in 1996. Of late, he has not been the democrat's best friend, writing a book attacking the clintons, etc.

But he has written an article in the Hill, which basically states that the exit polls are proof of voter fraud in this country.

Alan Keyes --- The pride and Joy of the Republican Party

Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 04:50:32 PM PDT

According a new AP story, Alan Keyes is blaming "the Media and the GOP" for his loss.

He also refuses to congratulate Barack Obama. (see quote below)

"I'm supposed to make a call that represents the congratulations toward the triumph of that which I believe ultimately stands for and will stand for a culture evil enough to destroy the very soul and heart of my country," Keyes said. "I can't do this, and I will not make a false gesture."

Scary that 1.3 illinoians voted for him

What do we do about young voters?

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 05:24:20 PM PDT

As a young...almost voter (missed voting by 6 months) I was appalled by the numbers of voters 18-24. Only one in 5 voted. I know that I made sure all my friends old enough to vote did.

As I will be in college during the next elections, I think there must be a larger grassroots push by students everywhere to galvanize and mobilize the college population. But it cannot just be at OSU or UF or UT or the large schools/smaller motivated ivys and liberal arts schools etc. There is a large, maybe a majority, of this age group that go to small state schools and community colleges. I think there needs to be a bigger effort to get out this vote in the future too.

Any thoughts?

Our Mission--Starting Today

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 02:15:19 PM PDT

So I have spent the past twenty four hours moping around, feeling sorry for myself and for people who feel my views. I especially felt sorry for all the great people on this site, people like MeteorBlades who was attacked for daring to suggest we look beyond the election...as if he was a traitor or something.

But now that we are past this election, George W. Bush will be our president for four more years, where do we go from here????

Below is my belief on what our mission should and must be if we want to change our country and turn around this wave of conservatism sweeping the country.

Congressional Predictions and Analysis---Very Long

Sun Oct 31, 2004 at 11:58:56 AM PDT

OK so I've finally made all my predictions outside of the presidency for this election. I tried to do so in a non-partisan way, my goal is to be correct, and so I did not pick what I want to have happen. Below the jump are my picks for the close senate, house and governor races. It may get a little long, but I would like to hear what y'all think.

I also have this lovely long table with all these predictions so that I can keep track on election night, but I have no idea how to upload a document for all of you to see.

Cnn Report on Early voting

Thu Oct 28, 2004 at 07:17:34 PM PDT

Cnn put together this list of states with early voting and information about each...there are links for many of them. Every single state mentioned has increased the number of early/absentee voters. (appologies if this has already been diaried)

Democrats win when there is an increased turnout.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/28/early.voting.samples.ap/index.html

Update [2004-10-28 22:36:51 by israelfox87]: Iowa had 277,000 voters vote absentee in 2000. 287,000 voters have voted there so far.

Newspaper Endorsements-----LONG

Wed Oct 20, 2004 at 02:00:56 PM PDT

Here is the tally as it stands now:

JOHN KERRY
55 newspapers total
9,226,709 daily circulation

GEORGE W. BUSH
42 newspapers total
5,477,272 daily circulation

Below is a list
Do any surprise you???? Am I missing any?

Notice that only one of the Gore papers have changed to Bush and more have changed to Kerry.

The one that shocks me (but i notice it cause I have family there) is the El Paso Times, endorsing Bush. El Paso is one of the most liberal places in Texas, 75% minority. I guess the paper is controlled by the wealthy few in that town.

Canvassing in New Hampshire

Mon Oct 18, 2004 at 04:29:38 PM PDT

Ok...so I will go to New Hampshire from my lovely blue state of Massachusetts for the Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of election week (Tuesday being election day)

What do I need to know, specifically about New Hampshire and the election there. I'm working with an organization and I'm sure they will give me info, but where can i find info on polling places, ballot questions, ways to report fraud etc.

Also, if i get a choice, to what part of the state should i go? I love manchester, but i think Nashua is more swing.

Update [2004-10-18 19:38:7 by israelfox87]: Apparently, NH has an open registration, meaning voters can register when they vote...makes my job a lot easier and I can turn out even more people.

Early Voting Open Thread

Mon Oct 18, 2004 at 12:23:12 PM PDT

All this early voting is awesome. Very exciting.

I would like to know if you have voted, where and who (not just kerry, but most of the ballot). Also, how is turnout??? I hear good things from Florida, but not from Tennesee...although i hear about problems in Florida.

This is for all things related to early voting.

Interesting AP article here on Florida...

Why we will win Nevada

Sun Oct 17, 2004 at 06:52:32 PM PDT

Because I am a junky, and I love statistics, I looked over the voter registration for Nevada.

In the Extended Box are two tables, registration in 2004 and registration in 2000

The Democrats have added 9,000 more new voters than the republicans and actually taken the lead in the state in terms of voter registration.

Giant Victory in Ohio

Thu Oct 14, 2004 at 01:17:10 PM PDT

Hot off the wire from the Associated press

"In a victory for the Democrats, a federal judge ruled Thursday that Ohio voters who show up at the wrong polling place on Election Day can still cast ballots as long as they are in the county where they are registered."

"More than 100,000 provisional votes were cast in Ohio in the 2000 election -- or about 2 percent of the total vote in the presidential election. President Bush defeated Democrat Al Gore in Ohio by 3.6 percentage points."

Remember, the greater the turnout...the better the democrats do. This is great for us.
