Who's your favorite Congressperson?
Tue Jun 17, 2008 at 04:55:58 PM PDT
I'm really curious which members of the House Kossacks have the most respect for. Please post your selections and rationale for your choice, particularly if you vote "Other".
The list below, of course, is only a small number of the great liberal Democrats we have serving us. You may have a particular admiration for your own representative. Those listed below are the ones who I perceived as having a potent combination of strong liberal tendencies and a dynamic, noticeable personality.
With that said, have at it.
Convince me, why Obama?
Wed Jan 30, 2008 at 02:43:18 PM PDT
I'm undecided. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm leaning towards any one candidate, but I'm very susceptible to switching my support and have done so countless times already. In case you're wondering which candidate I'm leaning towards, it's gasp! Hillary Clinton. I concede, I still have a lot of questions about her candidacy, but I have even more about Obama's. I can't see any definitive reason to support him over Clinton, so, Obama-loving Kossacks, enlighten me. Why Barack Obama?
The most obscene instance of executive privilege...EVER
Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 08:51:43 AM PDT
Actually, I'm curious what my fellow enlightened Kossacks have to say about this statement. I suppose this is more of an open thread than a declaration of opinion, but I've been wondering...how low a president can go when it comes to abuse of executive powers?
Was it Nixon, whose actions got him the boot?
Bush with wiretapping?
Maybe Bush again with AttorneyGate?
Someone else (if that's possible)?
I'm also curious as to whether or not there have been any instances where the courts have ruled in favor of a president's application of executive privilege, only to be rebuffed in the future by other judges, or simply by popular or academic opinion.
So...have at it. Who can we regard as the worst abuser of executive power? I'd love to hear what you all have to say.
My disgust at Malkin's blatant bigotry
Tue Apr 18, 2006 at 11:55:14 AM PDT
Recently, there has been a great deal of discussion regarding the disgusting and unacceptable antics of Michelle Malkin. She is a disgusting liar, bigot, and propagandist who has made apparent an agenda simply to tear to pieces liberals and progressives and those who associate more with the left. She's the political equivalent of a Rottwelier trained by the likes of David Duke, Strom Thurmond, etc.
Anyways, I have always held a sort of disrespect for Malkin and her racism, but I can no longer take it.
What the Fuck

"I'm becoming an Independent because not all the Dems voted against cloture." Seriously, guys, WHAT THE FUCK!?!
Kossacks, heed the call to action and show the light at freeper blogs
Thu Oct 20, 2005 at 07:38:33 PM PDT
I recently finished a spirited debate with some assholes at Right Wing News, a weird conservative blog nobody's probably ever heard of. Well, anyhow, I asked a question relating to gay rights. A response was given by DocNeaves who, in a nutshell, said he hated gays and didn't want to be around them.
The debate eventually evolved into a debate about whether Nazis and the KKK were conservative. I know, it sounds moronic, right? Well, that's www.rightwingnews.com for ya.
My opponent said that Nazis were leftists because they were socialists. He stubbornly failed to acknowledge the fact that both the Nazis and the KKK were right wing groups who took their beliefs to extremes and exploited Christianity in the name of their causes.
2008 Vice Presidential Straw Poll
Sun Jul 17, 2005 at 09:09:51 AM PDT
Since Kos has already posted a straw poll for our preferable presidential candidates, I'm interested in what Kossacks have to think about who the Democrats should have on our '08 ticket to compliment the Dem presidential candidate. My personal pick for VP is '08 is New Mexico's governor Bill Richardson to go along with Wes Clark, since he's the guy who can pull in Hispanic votes in battleground states. Please vote and recommend this diary so more people will notice it and vote. Who knows, if there are enough votes, this poll might end up on the Inside the Blogs section of CNN's Inside Politics, just like Kos's presidential straw poll. Thanks for voting.
