I like things.

I just got an email... (Update x2)

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 02:05:16 PM PDT

I just got an email about Senator Obama's recent trip to Afghanistan and I'd like to share it with you guys.  The alleged author of the email is a CPT Jeffery S. Porter.  According to Cpt. Porter, Obama blew off the troops there and didn't take the time to thank any of them for their service.

The text of the email is below the fold.

I love you.

I voted for you (in every poll you were in).

You make me happy in all your many forms.

I cannot tell you how much of an influence you have been in my life. (At least 30-40 lbs., I'd say.)

I just wanted to express my appreciation for you.

What in the HELL is Barack thinking?!??

Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 01:21:46 AM PDT

Today, I witnessed the death of a political career.  I watched in horror as a campaign that once lifted my spirits, challenged me to hope, to dream, to have faith in my brothers and sisters, came to a swift and violent end.  I had heard all the chatter about there being no way any candidate could overcome such vicious assaults.  I had seen the seemingly endless loops of bad stories, stupid gaffes, and depressing polls that had taken over cable news.  Despite all of this, I remained steadfast in my support, unwavering in the face of all the negativity.

This man was different.  This man had something special.  This man was going to elevate the political process and bring this nation out from the darkness and back into the light.  This man would not be tarnished by cheap personal attacks.  He was strong.  He was wise.  He could overcome anything.

I was convinced that he was finally starting to turn things around even though he had been backed into a corner.  He was going to resurrect his campaign once again.

But then he made the single greatest mistake of his entire political career, swiftly putting the final nail into his own coffin.

What Now? Here's what.

Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 07:57:09 AM PDT

A lot of us are wondering what to do now, what comes next, "what happens when Obama finishes his speech?"  The suggestions listed in paddy henry's diary are all very good and I suggest giving it a read if you haven't already.  I want to stress one point harder than the rest. This is not because it carries more weight and it's certainly not because the other calls to action aren't extremely crucial.  If I've learned anything from Dr. Dean and the grassroots organization of Barack Obama, it's that the power is in our hands and we must do everything that we possibly can to wield that power effectively.  That said the thing I want to most encourage all Obama supporters out there to do is...

"One man's red tape is another man's accountability."

This diary is a rant.  I may or may not partake in the use of vulgarity that my mother would prefer I not use in mixed company.  Verily I may smite fools with exuberant and righteous verbosity.  Or, I might tell some stupid fuckers where they can stick it.  Now allow me to vent, if you will.

I'm writing a diary I should have written several months ago, but failed to.  I'm hoping that you take the time to read through and pass the story along.

This is about a good friend of mine, an old college roommate, who has taken on an incredible challenge because he felt called to make a difference.  This diary is a call to action to get behind a noble cause and help one man make a world of difference.

A little help to save the world.....please?

Hello all, I've been a member of the DKos community for a while now, reading the excellent diaries, commenting in some of the threads, and passing mojo to those I feel deserve it.  I've only written one diary before this so despite my "age" I'm still wet behind the ears.

During my time here I've seen a lot of great things come about.  I've seen brilliant action ideas created and fleshed out.  I've been inspired to contact members of Congress to tell them just how I feel about their policies and decisions.  I've even seen the community come together to help those in need.  It's this last one that brings me here today.  Someone very special to me needs a little help getting on her feet and I thought I'd turn to some of the best political and activists minds I know to see if anyone can help.

The Wilderness

Fri Jul 07, 2006 at 01:00:07 AM PDT

Hello world, first time diarist here.  I just got into a pretty deep discussion with a good friend of mine over the merits various systems of belief.  And I thought I'd put a few of my reflections out there.
