Tomorrow morning the first call in session on CSpan's Washington Journal (7a EST) is on the FISA fiasco. If you can't be by a teevee, you can watch streaming here (CSpan 1). If you're hanging out and have an opinion you'd like to share (already working on mine) the contact info is-
Caught this in my local paper, and just wanted to share the good news. I am supporting Obama, but this is fantastic for any and all Democrats.
Why?
The state has not voted for a Democratic Presidential Nominee since Lyndon Johnson in 1964, but a poll shows a generic Democrat leading a generic Republican in the Presidential election 37%-32%.[44] Another poll by the Indianapolis Star showed the War in Iraq and the sluggish economy to be the biggest issues among Hoosiers.
I just want to make it clear that even though I wrote an essay in first grade saying how I want to be Zsa Zsa Gabor when I grow up**, it had no influence over the fact that I dye my hair blonde, got divorced and speak with an accent when drunk.
A lawyer and former talk radio host who was elected to Congress in 2000, he has described himself as "a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order" and called for a "return to the values" of the 1994 Republican Revolution. Just 47, and youthful despite his white hair, a future presidential bid is a near certainty for this articulate, forceful Indiana congressman regarded on both sides of the aisle as a rising star.
Chair of the Republican Study Committee, a conservative congressional caucus, Pence is a campaigner for small government, low taxes and the outlawing of abortion. But he departed from the Republican Right orthodoxy over immigration, introducing a compromise bill that was an imaginative attempt to split the difference between George W. Bush and congressional Republicans.
Mike Pence is right between Glenn Beck and Ed Gillespie on the list- higher than GWB & Roger Ailes, and the only current House Member other than Ron Paul (96).
I was just doing my regularly scheduled morning surfing when I came upon a note at my fellow Hoosiers' blog Left Of Centrist. I knew Robert had planned to attend the protest in D.C. today and wondered how it was going.
I just spent 10 blood pressure raising minutes screaming at Melanie Sloan on Hardball. Chris was harping on why Armitage was the main leaker (anti-war, no friend of Cheney Armitage) if it was a conspiracy?
If only she could have heard me.
It makes perfect sense the Richard Armitage was the first and primary leaker. I know because the "Beltway Insiders" told me.
Fred Kagan, the man widely seen as the "architect" of the military surge in Iraq, sees signs of progress but warns that September is too early to make a final decision about how well it has achieved its goals.
Instead, in an interview with Time.com, Kagan recommended waiting until the end of the year before judging the operation's success. Even then, he added, it might be some months before Iraqis make the political compromises necessary to bring lasting stability to the country.
Fuck you Fred Kagan, and all the other little Kaganites that populate your little fucking echo chamber.

British forces in Iraq and Afghanistan should draw inspiration from victory in the Falklands, Baroness Thatcher said today in a rare public message.
Lady Thatcher drew a parallel between the Falklands and current conflicts in a brief radio message to mark the 25th anniversary of the 10-day war with Argentina that sealed her dominance of British politics.
MSNBC, WFAN May Be Near "Morning Joe" Deal
MSNBC's favorite to replace Imus in the Morning is Joe Scarborough.
And WFAN is taking a liking to him too, TVNewser hears.
Virginia authorities arrested a Liberty University student in what officials said was a bomb plot intended to disrupt protesters at the Rev. Jerry Falwell's funeral service.
New York officials have identified another Sept. 11 victim from years-old remains that have been retested with new DNA technology over the past year.
Nine victims whose remains had not been identified from the thousands recovered after the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center have been positively identified in the past two months, the city medical examiner's office said.
I haven't taken a stand as to my choice for winner in '08, but this made me step back a bit.
Senator and Presidential candidate Chris Dodd today released the following statement responding to the announcement that the Feingold-Reid legislation would be attached to the Water Resources Development Act Reauthorization:
"We should have a straight up or down vote on Feingold-Reid - not as an amendment to a water bill or any other bill.
This is the most important Senate debate since the original vote to authorize the war.
This simply cannot be the occasion for hiding behind procedural tactics. That is why I am calling on all my other colleagues running for President to state clearly where they stand on this important legislation by joining me as a co-sponsor of Feingold-Reid and stating how they would vote on the bill."
