Blazed a trail? Or Blazed BY the trial?

I've been reading some of the comments on a recently recommended diary here and I've been left feeling more frustrated than ever about Hillary Clinton's run for presidency. The diary was a lovely entry about how much the person respected and admired Hillary Clinton, and was inspired by her. I'm happy for the diarist, and for any young woman who has been inspired by Clinton, but I don't think, like many of the comments I read, that she's been able to 'blaze a trail' at all....
Tired of those misconceptions about YOUR candidate? (w/poll)

I've been reader/lurker at Daily Kos for a little while now, but I missed out on being here during the last Primary season. From the comments that I've read about that particular era at Daily Kos, things got a little HEATED around here (to put it mildly). It seems temperatures are on the rise this time round too. Apparently, it can't be helped. And who knows, maybe vigorous debate is good for the party; debate being the key word here. However, images of primates throwing feces at each other seem to flash through my mind when I read some of the Obama/Edwards/Hillary threads these days, (no offence to primates) and I was thinking, maybe we can do SOMETHING collectively to head off at least some of the innacurate lobs we tend to be throwing at each other- hear me out:
Questions/observations by a 'regular joe' for all of you...

Can I ask you all a question? Or two?
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT the most 'politically savvy' person you're going to run into on this site..... partly because, I'm new to American politics at THIS intimate a level, so please bear with me on this diary....?
Hi. I have been reading and participating in discussions on dailykos for a little while now, and I must say its been a very informative experience (so thank you all for that). I think I've learned a little about the 'nitty gritty' of some areas of today's political environment ... and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking the time to answer a few questions? Who knows, it may even be a useful discussion for you all to have; (if anyone even reads this).. maybe it'll serve a purpose if, as I ask these questions, you just think of me as perhaps an 'independent' voter/even an 'on the fence' republican.... who is seriously trying to figure out what the dem's DEAL/"Democrat stance" is on some issues?.... (Because, frankly, I KNOW some of my American friends have the same questions that I do)(even though I'm just a Canuck)...
MUST SEE 'War Coverage' documentary- w/link to download!!!!!

I just saw a documentary called "Enemy Image" and I felt it was so well done, that it definetly deserved a diary to try to draw some attention to it. I saw the documentary on a CBC show here in Canada called ('The Passionate Eye') (which will replay on Oct 22nd according to the CBC web-site) and it has also been shown on an Australian network. BUT I also found a site on the internet that allows people to download the documentary as well..... which I highly suggest people do, and it appears at the bottom of the diary. (Also PLEASE Recommend; people should really see it)
'Free speech' too free in America?? (with poll)

So I was watching like many others tonight, the coverage on CNN of the riot that occured today in Ohio. What caught my attention was that the riot was a 'spin-off' from what was essentially supposed to be a counter-protest against a planned neo-Nazi group march. Now I'm not too sure what the specific 'mandate' of this neo-Nazi group IS, but I'm going to make an assumption here, and say that I think it is definetly about 'white supremacy' and therefore, a group not without an element of 'hate' or at the very least quite discriminatory against certain groups of people.
