Buckeyes give Edwards some love....
Fri Sep 28, 2007 at 10:30:03 PM PDT
I was late getting to the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #189 in Columbus OH tonight. The start date was 5:30 and I was more than forty five minutes late. As I walked up I saw lots of people milling about outside - some smoking, all wearing smiles. Fifteen dollars was the price of admission to the "Small Change for Big Change" event and I was thrilled to be hearing Edwards speak. The crowds outside let me know that Edwards had not arrived yet. I climbed the steps and entered the hall.
Difference between these Republicans and us -- explained?
Fri Oct 06, 2006 at 01:34:19 PM PDT
While running amok on the web yesterday I came across an article written by E.J. Mundell for HealthDay that I can't seem to get out of my brain. It seems to me, as I have for many years believed that one day we would discover that Republicans were mentally ill in some way, that this particular study on the brain may suddenly make all of the pain we've been experiencing as a nation make some sense.
Basically it seems our country is being run by folks without a functioning dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Yep, this little part of the brain helps people suppress selfishness and taking unfair advantage of others. When this part of the brain is impeded, folks still know right from wrong but can't help taking advantage of the situation to gain in a selfish way.
Tucker Carlson and GQ Editor determine which males are better in bed. One guess.

Michael Hainey, the Deputy Editor of GQ Magazine appeared on The Situation with Tucker Carlson. You know that if the guy was on Tucker Carlson, the "unofficial poll" would be pro-Republican but I found what was said interesting, funny and oddly pathetic.
From the beginning of the transcript: "The anonymous author, who wrote the piece for "GQ" reports "After years of intensive research on both sides of the aisle, I'm here to report that Republican men are infinitely better to have sex with."
The article in the April issue of "GQ" lays out 10 reasons why Republicans are better and kinkier in the sack."

Raise your hand if you're sleep deprived.

I have often believed that I have less ability to follow through with thoughts or to think in depth about an issue when I am tired. I usually attempt major projects earlier in the day to try to complete them while I am "fresh". I have only ever applied these notions to myself, or tossed off comments to others excusing behavior or inability to think/talk because of a lack of sleep. But as I read these articles about it being an issue all across the country I can't help but wonder-- is this how we've ended up with this current mess?!?
Bear with me and read the sleep deprived rantings of a madwoman, er, read my "reasoning" below the flip.....
Follow up info: Detroit Animal Shelter Situation
Thu Dec 15, 2005 at 09:13:43 AM PDT
I mentioned yesterday in the original diary that I would forward the diary link to my friend at the NY ASPCA. He just received this letter back regarding the situation and asked me to post it to set the record straight. NY ASPCS apparently is in the position to provide grants to other organizations to take in pets from shelters when there is overcrowding or an emergency situation. Had this been as reported, I think my friend was in a good position to assist these animals. See the email from the Michigan Humane Society below the flip:
Primetime Segment coming up now - Santorum
Thu Nov 10, 2005 at 08:03:27 PM PDT
They just showed a teaser for a story on ABC Primetime that is coming after the break. It's their last segment for the hourlong show called Double Talk. The entire teaser was about Rick Santorum....if it's anything like what they showed, it should be good. I will try to update....
