Will Obama hold on to the popular vote?
Fri May 09, 2008 at 07:05:21 PM PDT
I have noticed that people are very much underestimating the voting totals in the remaining states. So lets look at the likely voting numbers and the popular vote margins from these states for the remaining six states. Rather than considering Kerry's 2004 totals, I will look at current registered voters and past turnout in these states. I get the results off the SecState or Board of elections page from these states.
"Worst Case" Delegate Scenario for TX
Sat Feb 16, 2008 at 09:46:47 AM PDT
Earlier I wrote a diary that explored the worst case scenarios for OH and PA.

What I mean by worst case here is that a reasonable worst case, I am not including possibilities like the implosion of the Obama campaign.
Flip over to the other side.
"Worst Case" Delegate Scenario for OH, PA, TX
Fri Feb 15, 2008 at 02:47:42 PM PDT
In this diary, I will look at what I consider to be the worst case delegate counts for Obama in the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania. What I mean by worst case here is that a reasonable worst case, I am not including possibilities like the implosion of the Obama campaign.

Gallup Tracking Poll has Clinton up 13!
Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 06:48:42 PM PDT
As much fun as we have had on here today, I would urge Obama supporters not to get overconfident as Clinton appears to have been surging in the last few days in this poll.
Now of course, this does not take into effect the Super Tuesday results, but it still clearly says we are the underdogs in this race.
Dealing with Rethug endorsements of Lieberbush
Fri Aug 11, 2006 at 08:15:28 AM PDT
Rethugs seem to have been unusually supportive of Lieberbush over the last few days. This by itself is not surprising, after all, the Rethug candidate is weak, and Lieberbush is a right-wing Rethug masquerading as a moderate/independent "Democrat". However, we have seen an increasing number of Rethug candidates from other states that have endorsed Lieberbush, particularly McGavick of Washington and Kennedy of Minnesota, with the hope that they can be seen as "independent" as well, as well as smear Democrats the way that Joe McCarthy did by questioning their patriotism for supporting Ned Lamont.
Some ideas to deal with this on the flip.
My feelings today and the Red Sox
Fri Oct 29, 2004 at 07:29:49 PM PDT
The bin Laden video has me feeling quite down as it looks like it will help W at least in the short term. There is a feeling within me that today's events has basically put Kerry in deep trouble.
And then I remembered how it felt 11 days ago in game 4 of ALCS, in the 9th inning, as it looked like the Yankees were going to get the sweep. Mariano Rivera was coming out, and it looked over. The Red Sox needed a miracle, the fans needed hope. And we all know what happened afterwards. It just seemed afterwards that it was destined to be that way, that someone above was smiling on us for once.
Keep the hope up, I think we have another "miracle" out there left.

Check out the Ohio Elections Site
Thu Oct 07, 2004 at 08:26:18 AM PDT
I don't know if anyone posted this, but the Ohio elections site seems to be weird. They have 2004 "election results" already posted, with 25% of the precincts in. I can't tell whether the site is not the official one, or if it has been hacked, or whether the fix is in.
Anyway here's the site, http://election.sos.state.oh.us/Results.aspx
RFK quotes and the lessons for today
Sun Jun 06, 2004 at 09:54:22 AM PDT
In all the Reagan obituaries, it is easy to forget that that Robert Kennedy, my political hero, died 36 years ago. With him, many of our hopes for a better world, an end to an unjust war, and end to our racial troubles, and an end to poverty. Instead, we were sentenced to 36 years(let's hope that's all) for reactionary policies, subliminal racial messages, and more and more people killed in wars.
Apparently Dean in Dixie already did a thread on RFK, at http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/6/4/23150/46420, so I'll restrict this diary to a few RFK quotes on the Vietnam War which deeply affected me.
