Kos on TomPaine: "Corrupt System"
Wed Jan 18, 2006 at 01:33:27 PM PDT
TomPaine on kos, "He disparaged the "corrupt system" that grips both parties, and urged students to remember their roots, stay attuned to change and work pragmatically."
If the system is corrupt how can we say there are no dirty Dems? Is corruption to be all blame to be on the situation or all on the disposition of a person? Or both?
What if we play hard at insisting no House Dem is corrupt and are proven wrong. Will we not look like liars?
How can we expect the Republicans to clean up without us doing so as well? If there are corrupted Democrats we must drive them out to assure the voters of our integrity.
"We face a ruthless enemy," he said, "and we've got a long way to go."
How far are we willing to go for moral government? ...
Can we bomb Iran now?

Trick headline, got you.
Real headline:
A Nuclear-Armed Iran? So What?
"Providing a new perspective on Iran's strive for advanced nuclear technology, Abolghasem Bayyenat asks whether the world's fears of a potentially nuclear-armed Iran are justified."
"First, it would be a mistake to think that the character of the Iranian government has remained unchanged since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. In fact the Islamic Republic has lost much of its revolutionary and ideological fervor over the past two decades and has developed into more of a pragmatist government. Iran's foreign policy is an area which has seen moderation and pragmatism in a more salient way and where national interests and strategic calculations have taken precedence over ideological considerations."

So the head CIA lawyer (General Counsel) sent a 14 page legal opinion to the Congressional Intelligence Committee stating the Bush/NSA wiretaps were criminal, hunh?
And the story disappears after one day, hmmmm?

I am not being funny here. It is a must for them. It is not on there words that one can hang the proof, but the action of the troops.
One friend of mine's son recently returned from Iraq and he spoke of them as very evil and no good. All the old "Nigger" words and attitudes of the Christian right.

He was a strong Christian youth when he left. Now he is just an angry man on the subject. And no longer believes in much at all. Just hatred....more
Presidential Adviser Says Bush Can Legally Torture Children
Mon Jan 09, 2006 at 08:52:24 AM PDT
If Scalito gets in we get more of the following.
John Yoo, author of Bush regime's torture memo, says that the president has the right to crush the testicles of children of suspected terrorists.
John Yoo, author of the infamous legal memo justifying Presidential powers to torture US captives around the world, couldn't escape torture victims (World Can't Wait activists) when he appeared in Chicago in a debate with Doug Cassel, long time human rights legal scholar and professor at Notre Dame.

'Feingold won't rule out Bush impeachment'

This is just peachy with me.
Feingold on domestic spying: "I think there is an orderly and dignified way to find out what happened," said Russ Feingold of Wisconsin. "And, if there was a legal violation there needs to be accountability ... you can't put the cart before the horse, but I would not rule out any form of accountability."

Sharon Suffers a Cerebral Hemorrhage
By MARK LAVIE, Associated Press Writer 5 minutes ago
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday and was receiving breathing assistance while under general anesthetic, a hospital official said. Power was transferred to his deputy.
Sharon, 77, suffered a "significant" stroke and was brought to Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital from his ranch in the Negev desert, an official said. Channel 2 TV said Sharon was suffering from paralysis in his lower body and was taken into the hospital on a stretcher.
Dr. Shlomo Mor-Yosef, the hospital's director general, said Sharon was under general anesthetic and was receiving breathing assistance while doctors assessed his condition.
A few minutes later, Mor-Yosef emerged to say that initial tests showed Sharon had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, or bleeding in his brain.
Addressing reporters in English, Mor-Yosef said Sharon had "massive bleeding and was being transferred to an operating theater." ... more

Congress renews Patriot Act for 1 month, not 6 - Implications

Sensenbrenner voted AGAINST the six month extension! What is the game here? Nothing happens by mistake in poltics, right?
As much as I detest the abuses of 'Patriot' Act, I am uncomfortable with this news, as you can surmise from my commentary, albeit speculative, in this article, "Why The Patriot Act Is INTENDED To Fail".

Bush avoids charges
Thu Dec 22, 2005 at 11:59:53 AM PDT
An appeal is under way.
Will a Press Pool reporter ask Bush's mouthpiece this?
How does the President feel about the torture charges being rejected?
Secondly, how does the President feel about the Law group's promise to appeal the recent court decision?
I would treasure the video of Bush's mouthpiece responding for many a day.

The following is VERY likely to occur unless people move on this now.
I alluded to this in my post yesterday:
"I have word something bad is coming down in January. I speculate on it on my blog and scare readers away. It's Christmas time and we want to enjoy the high, right? So I won't bring you down here. Freedom requires vigilance."
