The Clinton Albatross (for the Party and the Candidate)

Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 03:45:26 AM PDT

Senator Clinton (as the Obama campaign has recently stated almost verbatim) cannot take credit for President Clinton's successes without accepting the liability of his failures. And unlike Bush 41 and Bush 43, Sen. Clinton is at a disadvantaged position to claim that she is a "different candidate" while so engaged. To do so would also be, most tellingly - disingenuous based on the campaign tactics presented thus far, and the reality of the "situation on the ground" with regard to who is running her campaign and how - and what this could mean for every other democrat running for office in the nation.

Matt Drudge endangers troops

Thu Feb 28, 2008 at 04:24:16 PM PDT

As if any of us needed further reason to hold Matt Drudge in contempt, it is apparently now his practice to dish up the dirt and provide his tabloid "scoop" even at the expense of lives and the safety of coalition soldiers. In outing the deployment of Prince Harry, Drudge has endangered the life of a young man and those of his comrades who at least had the guts to serve in their nation's military. To steal a republican talking point, this is giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

Iraq detainees 'found starving'

reposted from the BBC

There have been persistent claims of abuse by Iraqi security forces. Iraq's government says it has begun an investigation into the alleged abuse of more than 170 detainees held by Iraqi security forces in Baghdad.
The prisoners, many malnourished and some showing signs of torture, were found when US troops took control of an interior ministry building on Sunday.

The US raid followed repeated enquiries by the parents of a missing teenager.

How do we stop the Wingnuts in Texas?

Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 10:58:53 PM PDT

After reading an extremely well thought out diary on Texas's prop 2 by DyspepTex I felt the need to echo the sentiments contained therein and desperately call on my fellow kossaks to help form a counter strategy. We all know these kinds of issues such as Texas's "Gay-Marriage" Prop 2 are designed to rally the wingnut base. With the Texas and national GOP shamelessly courting churches directly how do we counter this? By demonizing gays in this instance they are also able to mobilize the lowest common denominator, stupidity and intolerance. While not at all suggesting we stoop to such lows, how do we accomplish a similar effect with our base? How do we get our people out, and keep theirs at home swilling natural light, dipping copenhagen, watching nascar and procreating inbred Wal-mart shoppers?
