A Squirrel, huh? In a popcorn popper???

Media was reporting yesterday that Huckabee, in an effort to gain popular appeal with South Carolinans, bragged about eating squirrel in college fried in a popcorn popper. He did not appear to be joking. This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that not only is Huckabee squirrelly, he's a liar too.
Wiccan symbol okay'd by VA
Mon Apr 23, 2007 at 04:33:13 PM PDT
The relatives of fallen Wiccan soldiers have tried for years to get the VA to allow the Wiccan pentacle to be engraved on the headstones, the same as the symbols for other religions--major and obscure--are allowed. Conservative Christians in the military have fought this for years with no good reason. Today, after being challenged legally for over nine years, the VA agreed to allow this symbol in military cemetaries.
Foiling the Extra Baggers

In the context of everything that's happening to the planet ecology, this is a small thing, maybe not even worth mentioning. But the ecological problems we're facing are, for the most part, an accumulation of small things. I'm wondering if anyone else brings cloth bags to the grocery store and still comes home with a slew of plastic grocery bags inside the cloth bags they took to the store.
Condoleezza Rice--what is her deal?

I post this today, because I've been musing on the question a lot, and she's topical again with the latest revelations from Bob Woodward's book. The new Congressional torture bill has also had my wheels spinning, though frankly I am tired of talking about it. I want to see those Congressmen tried for war crimes too.
Why I oppose gay marriage
Sun Dec 04, 2005 at 02:14:02 AM PDT
"That marriage is a failure none but the very stupid will deny." --Emma Goldman
I oppose legalizing gay marriage for the reason I oppose all legal marriage: because state sanctioned marriage is wrong. It gives one group of people--couples in committed relationships--a set of rights and privileges denied others. Those who are single, divorced, widowed, or in short-term or multiple relationships are slighted under the law, while those who are married are favored by preferential tax treatment and other economic benefits. Furthermore, marriage is a religious institution which has no place being licensed or regulated by a secular government.
