It appears that Arizona had some voting issues today:
"I've voted at this precinct for the last 13 years and they didn't have my name registered," said Wood, 48, a businessman who said he is a registered Republican. "I had to vote on a provisional ballot. I'm a little suspicious about why presidential elections would not parallel state elections."
That is the magic word for the day on FOX. The Democrats have become Radical since the election. FOX news decided this just today. The Meme is in.
Every stupid show on that stupid channel is pounding it home that the Democrats and those who support them are radical, rabid people. Hillary Clinton has been warned by the Pentagon to sit down and shut up. The Daily Kos is full of brown shirts, secretly organizing for a takeover.
I realize that most people on this site do not watch FOX nor tolerate it, and of course I do not either. I only 'hear' it because I live with people who do watch it.
Today's mystery was originally revealed by investigative reporter, Bill O'Reilly. O'Reilley has discovered that the Daily Kos is more than a left wing website that discusses politics, -they also get together in person and discuss current political events.
And who sponsors this?
JETBLUE. How did O'Reilley connect the dots? We explore his methods below:
Drenched in the stomach secretions of Chertoff, each pundit expounded on the likelihood of a terrorist attack based on the digestive system of Homeland Security director Michael Chertoff.
I heard the same statement from John Gibson, Bill O'Reilly, Shep Smith and I expect to hear it on into the night as my Mom's TV drones on and on:
So the fairness doctrine was shot down. I'm not bitter, I'm too young and life is too short.
It was a half baked idea in the first place: everyone's viewpoint must represented. Well, that is just not possible.
Uh, it is...it's called the internet.
Anyhoo. I have a new idea. HONESTY IN THE MEDIA. Here is how Honesty is defined by Wikipedia:
Honesty is the human quality of communicating and acting truthfully. It is related to truth as a value. This includes listening, and any action in the human repertoire — as well as speaking.
Superficially, honesty means simply, stating facts and views as best one truly believes them to be. It includes both honesty to others, and to oneself (see: self-deception) and about ones own motives and inner reality.
UPDATE:Please read comment section-Democratic Senators are discussing reimposing the Fairness Doctrine.
The past two days FOX News has spent a lot of time discussing the evils of the Fairness Doctrine.
I find it humorous. I am not aware of any major undertaking by a liberal group to re-instate it. But FOX News is on the defensive, doing their usual smear campaign.
According to Brit Hume, the lefties are disapointed that Air America is failing, so they are forcing the government to let their viewpoints be heard on every outlet.
Framing or the art of manipulating a topic so that it is seen at a different angle (and so will be accepted more widely) is a topic that is of great interest on the Daily Kos.
For some reason, Trent Lott's goat pen qoute from yesterday reminded me of framing. For anyone who hasn't heard it or read it, here it is from McJoan's post:
"If the answer is 'build a fence' I've got two goats on my place in Mississippi. There ain't no fence big enough, high enough, strong enough, that you can keep those goats in that fence.
"Now people are at least as smart as goats. Maybe not as agile. Build a fence. We should have a virtual fence. Now one of the ways I keep those goats in the fence is I electrified them. Once they got popped a couple times they quit trying to jump it."
Any thinking person can see the racism in this, the inhumanity of the Washington Elite at the moment. No, not every politician goes around saying things like this-but Trent Lott is not exactly a black sheep with Washington Elite.
Nguyen Minh Triet, the first president to visit Washington since the Vietnam War, said his government was working hard to smooth out difficulties that some U.S. companies have experienced while doing business in the communist-led country. He is to meet Friday with President Bush at the White House.
I am disenchanted with every candidate on both sides of the aisle and those in between of the aisle- (or in the case of Gravel and Romney somewhere in outer space).
Please fill the comment section with reasons why all the candidates are not qualified, especially the Democratic candidates who are running against your pet Democratic candidate.
This will help us all make a decision more easily, as well as entertain. Meanwhile here are the top ten reasons I am voting for Pedro:
Hello Kossackss or Kossians or whatever the MAN says.
It is not my intention to go Craigs List on anyone, but does anyone progressive live in Idaho besides McJoan?
I just moved back home and it is such a culture shock. Electric Culture Shock. In a bad way. Not in the sense of the song, which is still playing here on the radio, btw. ??????
The destruction of the Fourth Estate began with the demonization of Dan Rather, the former cornerstone of CBS news. And it began long ago, before this administration, and even before FOX News started it's campaign to destroy any credible news source.
Have you heard of Bernard Goldberg?
If not, you should know who he is.
A long time news contributor to CBS News during the 1990's, Goldberg nurtured resentment against the entire MSM because it did not adhere to his world views. Like many misinformed people, he fought to change the 'message' instead of adopting a more reasonable world view that adhered to reality.
In 1996 Goldberg wrote an OP-Ed article in the Wall Street Journal that accused the mainstream media of harboring a liberal bias. Goldberg, himself employed at CBS, found working there difficult after he accused his colleagues of biased reporting and consequently quit.
Around 4p my Grandmother turns on the TV to watch John Gibson so she can stay current. Everyone in the living room must be quiet so she can hear, it is that big of a deal to her. Out of morbid curiosity I joined her.
I wasn't disappointed: The big story-Pants.
According to court documents, the problem began in May 2005 when Pearson became a judge and brought several suits for alteration to Custom Cleaners in Northeast Washington, a place he patronized regularly despite previous disagreements with the Chungs. A pair of pants from one suit was not ready when he requested it two days later, and was deemed to be missing.
Pearson asked the cleaners for the full price of the suit: more than $1,000.
But a week later, the Chungs said the pants had been found and refused to pay. That's when Pearson decided to sue.
In blog land, FOX NEWS plays little to no influence in molding public thought. It is deservedly scoffed at, but other then the occasional guffaw at O'Reilley or one of the other misinformed hosts on FOX News, it is virtually ignored.
I myself do not watch it and change the channel whenever I accidentally land on the station, because long ago I decided to ignore any and all information that comes from that source. I see it as mental poison and steer clear of it. I'd rather hear the news from an honest source, just as discerning people tell busy bodies and rumor mongers to stop gossiping around them for the sake of sanity. There is nothing worse than hearing a version of events from the office gossip because you know you are getting maybe, perhaps, a grain of truth, and it's a headache to try to figure out the correct version.
The Culture Warrior has aided and abetted a corrupt administration with his stupid distraction he calls 'the no spin zone.' Bill O'Reilly seemingly will not be deterred by anything. His lying tirades are beamed straight into American's homes and his constant spew of delusional lies against Americans continue unabated.
Well sort of...sooo many guests have gone on his show and verbally kicked his butt:
