Please educate me: what are the rules of criminal procedure?
Mon Mar 10, 2008 at 11:11:26 PM PDT
I am not a lawyer. I am not an elected official. I am not someone who comes in regular contact with courts or wiretaps. I have no idea what it means when someone gets in trouble with the law. Will SOMEONE who does know please let ME know what it means when (and what I should do if)a major daily paper and then all of the national media plasters my name and details all over the broadcast media?
"Anyway, this is the Oval Office. It's a shrine to democracy. And we treat it that way."

Reading through
Kai Diekmann's Oval Office interview with the Resident in Chief, I was struck by Bush's tone. This is our President, folks. In all his naked glory (no, no really! Wait! Come back!). But Seriously Folks...,(and I mean that in all of its comic significance). This is the man who, behind closed doors, behaves like my 6th grade nephew as First Trumpet welcoming parents to the Band Concert Extravaganza.

Howard Kurtz is a Putz (and irrelevant) w/Poll

I didn't want to waste a diary on this guy because I thought it would be, well,
a waste. Which is why we have open thread, right? But after I wrote this post I figured, screw that: everyone who is interested should see what Howie wrote today because it sheds much light (IMHO)on what is WRONG with the WaPo at this moment in time.
So, here I go. After the flip
The Tony Snow Gambit: A New Bush Strategery
Wed Apr 26, 2006 at 07:16:14 PM PDT
With all due respect to fellow Kossacks who instinctively dismiss Tony Snow as a tool and a fool, I believe his ascension to McClellans post is a shrewd move by the White House and could represent a dramatic shift in visibility of WH positions and message control. Join me on the flip side for some disturbing thoughts...
What is in Bush's Desk Drawer???
Mon Mar 06, 2006 at 10:39:39 AM PDT
After reading
Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse's interesting but question raising diary on Presidential Self Pardon, in which he suggests that a self-pardon document may at this moment be sitting in Bush's desk drawer in the Oval Office, I couldn't help but revisit this same central question here in a new diary: What is in Bush's desk drawer?

Forget withdrawl: Iraq Civil War Around the corner (poll)
Thu Dec 01, 2005 at 08:30:08 PM PDT
Well, folks, if ever there was a page 26A story about real and relative happenings in Iraq, here it is. Looks like the Kurds have played their OIL trump card, to the chagrin of Washington, Europe, and the Shiite and Sunni factions in Iraq. WP in Fallujah, renditions and torture, IED's and Iranian shenanigans may all give way to the festering sub-plot we all sort-of knew was coming but until now remained buried in the depths of the front page section (if there at all)

(UPDATE)Hurricane Rita Report: Lake Charles (with pictures and poll).
Tue Nov 15, 2005 at 08:16:52 AM PDT
Last weekend my wife and I brought her mother and Grandparents back home to Lake Charles, LA to reassess the damage to their houses. It was the first time they've been back since the storm hit and we found the grim but evolving picture of a city hard hit and struggling to recover. Details, pictures, and some scary gossip about what happened in New Orleans in the days after Katrina below that proverbial fold.
Let me tell you all about Bastrop, Texas. (with Poll)
Fri Nov 04, 2005 at 01:02:32 PM PDT
Well, having waited a week to post after establishing my account here on DK, I can't think of a better way to break the ice than to post about the state of my State of Texas. I received a whole bunch of requests to diary this entry which was originally attached to
http://www.dailykos.com/...
I also had one NOT so nice request, but I won't heed that one. There must be a bunch of progressives out there itching for news that places like small town Bastrop, TX are not all bastions of hypocritical right wing iniquity. There is, in fact, plenty of left wing iniquity and a wealth of hypocrisy to go around. There is also a movement in places like Bastrop away from the lies and distortions of the Republican Taliban. People are getting fed up. So as my introductory diary, behold a taste of Texas circa 2005. Have fun, and don't get your panties in a bundle!
