SNL: Perception vs. Reality w/poll

Sat Nov 11, 2006 at 09:19:38 PM PDT

Thank You Saturday Night Live for showing exactly why I think Nancy Pelosi is a bad choice for Speaker.

Her identity as a "San Francisco Liberal" is pretty much all most Americans, who don't read the newspaper or the internets religiously like you and I, know about her.

According to SNL, the Democrats under Pelosi will:

-Fight for people of all religions....namely witches and those who use gerbils in their rituals. (Pelosi is Catholic)

-New commitee chairs include a naked hippy and a member of al Qaeda taking over the Intelligence commitee.

-Will ban smoking from her office, excluding marijuana.

They are tearing apart Dubya and the GOP.

The only speaking gig he can get is the SC Comptroller race.

RNC Convention after Dems AGAIN

Thu Apr 06, 2006 at 01:36:02 PM PDT

The Democrats were applauded for having their 2008 convention after the conclusion of the Summer Olympics, and late enough that maybe they could have their post-convention bounce last closer to election day. Well, not only is the gop convention four days after the Dems. But it will take place after Labor Day, WHEN EVERYONE IS HOME FROM SUMMER VACATION AND PAYING ATTENTION TO THE NEWS AGAIN! Way to go Howard. Way to assume they'll play by the rules.

Democratic Members are lauding their party's unexpected decision to hold the 2008 Democratic National Convention in late August, saying that the later date should help the party level the playing field against the GOP.

Recommend This AP article on McCain

Wed Apr 05, 2006 at 08:45:48 PM PDT

This is a good sign. We're still a long way away from the primary season and the MSM is starting to pick up on how big a phony John McCain is.

THIS is the DLC

Sun Dec 11, 2005 at 11:50:09 AM PDT

Below is the current membership of the Democratic Leadership Council. The "centrist" group of Democrats often referred to as "DINOs" or "gop-lite". Some are very much in the moderate category like Joe Lieberman or Mary Landrieu. Most of those at least are in solidly red states and are an alternative to radically right-wing republicans. Cathy Cox is probably our best shot at winning back the Governor's mansion in Georgia. Harold Ford could take back a seat in the Senate in Tennesee that wouldn't even vote for Gore-Lieberman in 2000. Stephanie Herseth and Tim Johnson are the only two Democrats who can get elected statewide in South Dakota, something Tom Daschle failed to accomplish. And Joe Biden is NOT a member of the DLC. Delawares other Democratic Senator is (Carper's vice-chairman in fact). John Edwards was a member while he was in the Senate, and he's very much a populist.

A Question for Al Gore supporters

Tue Oct 11, 2005 at 01:31:26 PM PDT

In 2000, Bush said that Gore was a guy who took a million nuanced positions and was therefore disingenuous. Much as I HATE to say it, he was right.

Gore was once a pro-life. Gore was once a proud member of the DLC. Now he's Howard Dean's best friend? If this is his real self then he was a total phony all these years, or vice-versa.

That BITCH!!!.....What Hillary's up to Now

Mon Sep 05, 2005 at 07:15:48 PM PDT

Hillary Clinton is at it again. Always running for the spotlight. And, surprise surprise, she's working side by side with Republicans. When are these 'gop-lite' Democrats, like the head of the NAACP who called for an end to the finger-pointing for the time being, gonna start demandng some accountability?

Wed Aug 24, 2005 at 10:06:47 AM PDT

According to a site called http://www.anklebitingpundits.com Sen. Chuck Hagel may decide to run for President not as a Republican but as an Independent. The site says this is according to a high-level GOP source.

Woodward: "Highly Likely" Cheney Will Run in 2008

Thu Aug 11, 2005 at 05:51:28 AM PDT

Update [2005-8-11 8:51:28 by Armando]: From the diaries by Armando. God, please let it be true. I must dissent from those who think Cheney would be formidable. Title edited for style.

According to the Denver Post, Bob Woodward said in a recent question and answer session that he suspects Dick Cheney will run for President in 2008. He says it's "highly likely" that Bush will ask him, and he would accept.

Hillary is off to a GREAT start

Sat Aug 06, 2005 at 12:36:21 PM PDT

Many people say that Hillary Clinton's success in meaningless polls amongst Democrats are faulty because she has 100% name recognition. Here's the problem though.....

According to polls from Pennsylvania and Georgia, the top 4 names are all Democrats with 100% name recognition. Clinton, Kerry, Edwards, and Gore. Hillary Clinton has more votes than the other 3 COMBINED.

Lance Armstrong for Texas Gov. ?

Thu Jun 23, 2005 at 02:57:42 PM PDT

I was just watching PTI on ESPN and they said that 6-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is mulling a run for Governor of Texas, but not in 2006.

Potential House Pickup in NC!

Thu Apr 07, 2005 at 02:55:02 PM PDT

As a Redskins fan, Heath Shuler makes me vomit with rage. They used the 3rd pick in the draft on this kid and he was an unqualified bust.

But as a Democrat.....He might move us one step closer to taking back the House of Representatives.

GORE WON'T RUN IN '08

Mon Mar 07, 2005 at 08:43:35 PM PDT

For those who don't know, Chris Matthews has a rock solid source that tells him Gore will not seek the Presidency in 2008.

Gore Rising?

Fri Feb 18, 2005 at 09:36:11 PM PDT

From Forty-Four:

We've all heard the Gore-Nixon comparrisons. Nixon was Vice-President in 1960, lost the closest election in history, but was elected President eight years later. In 2000 Vice-President Gore lost the closest election in history. 2008 will be eight years later. Gore has been talking about global warming since his days in Congress dating back to the 1970's. So he used the occasion of the day the Kyoto agreement went into effect to give a speech on the subject.

Here's my problem with people on this site

Sun Feb 13, 2005 at 05:48:10 PM PDT

I've been focusing a lot on 2008 presidential candidates. I've got a site devoted to it and everything. I love hearing people's opinions on various candidates. I was here as far back as 2002, so I saw how that race for the nomination ended up.

2008 Top 10

Thu Feb 10, 2005 at 07:07:22 PM PDT

From Dean Nation via Forty-Four.

2008 Top 10 - 02/05

Warning: If you are angry about the discussion on this site regarding 2008, you don't have to read this. I am very aware that their are more important issues facing us in the present and immediate future. But the 2008 presidential race will be one of the most wide open in American history. Not to mention the idea of a woman seriously contending for a major party nomination will be one of the biggest stories in American history. So it's not just me. In fact our very own Markos has Gallup poll results on this subject on the front page as we speak (too bad they're absolutely worthless).

Kansas in the spotlight?

Sat Jan 29, 2005 at 07:26:04 PM PDT

From Forty-Four
Now this could all turn out not to be true, but Chris Bowers over at MyDD is reporting that Sen. Sam Brownback(R-KS) could be appointed the next World Bank President by Bush. Or that's the rumor anyway. Why is that significant? Well the Governor of Kansas is none other than Democrat Kathleen Sebelius. And when there are vacancies in the Senate, like in most states, the Governor appoints a replacement who would serve the rest of this session. Therefore Gov. Sebelius could appoint a Democrat to fill that seat reducing the number of Republicans in the Senate to 54. As Bowers notes, whoever Bush appoints to head up the World Bank is going to be horrible anyway, so why not be happy that we're getting something out of it?
