Supporting LGBT Students
Sun Nov 11, 2007 at 11:31:08 AM PDT
Tomorrow I'm conducting a Safe Space training at my college for faculty and staff who are interested in making our campus more welcoming for LGBT students and colleagues. Sessions not only provide information about the LGBT community, but also explore straight privilege, how homophobia affects everyone, and what it really means to be an ally.
I've been doing this training for a while, but would like to get some more ideas from this community.

In clarifying George Bush's veto of legislation providing funding for stem cell research, the White House has clarified its reasoning:

Yellow Dog Dem Woman posted
this letting us know about Tennessee Rep. Debra Maggart's comments about adoption by gays and lesbians.
Rep. Maggart claims gays and lesbians are unable to maintain long-term relationships. Quite a statement from a woman who's been divorced three times. For someone who's so committed to the idea of children being raised by one man and one woman in a "traditional" household, she hasn't managed it herself. While I admire those who have to raise kids alone, I have a problem with someone who sees no irony in calling others "dysfunctional" while having three failed marriages to her credit.
But her hypocrisy isn't the worst of it.
