So sorry to post this. It is my belied that Geraldine Ferraro has received far more attention and publicity than she deserves, and the more we talk about her, the longer it will take for her to fade back into irrelevancy, where she belongs. That being said, I have come to a conclusion about this, which may sound paranoid, but given the Rovian nature of the Clinton campaigns tactics of late, really seems to make sense. OK - I don't post diaries very often but I need to make a point about Maria Cantwell and other vulnerable Dem candidates that we progressives love to hate.

Vote for her. Do your part to make sure she wins. I don't care if you feel (as I do) betrayed by her positions on Iraq and on the Alito cloture vote. I don't care if she has adopted "centrist" positions that seem to pander to the middle-right. It is important that she win this election and here's why after the break

Sen "Liberal Pedophile Priests" Santorum R-PA, aka "Man-on-Dog" Ricky.

My money's on Ricky, but the other two are strong contenders. Any more nominees?

Former Sen Zell "Pistols at 20 Paces" Miller D-GA. In the spirit of bi-partisanship.

This is really really hard. I thought we had it in the bag. I truly belived that Kerry ran a strong campaign that appealed to independent voters and that we had mobilized the progressive base. A unified party, a strong candidate and record turnout - and we were up against a bozo. And we lost. I am so shocked.

But the numbers don't lie - there are more of them there are of us I guess. I am ashamed to be an American today.

So we start over. I believe the blogs, and especially this one, perform an invaluable service in getting out the truth. This community means a lot to me and I mean to keep plugging away until we prevail. Thanks to all of you for helping me believe it will happen.

This article by Jacob Weisberg in Slate http://slate.msn.com//id/2100064/ goes a long way towards explaining the mind and character of George W Bush. This is probably not new stuff to Kossacks, but it makes interesting reading and offers some good insights.
