The New York Sun reported today that...well, just read the clip.
The vice president was careful to say that the American government does not want to pick the leaders of Iraq, a job he said should be left to the Iraqis. But in response to a question from the Sun about whether senior American diplomats in Baghdad should meet with Mr. Chalabi as they do with other Iraqi politicians, the vice president said, "I know Mr. Chalabi myself. I've met with him. I wouldn't have any problems meeting with him today. If there's any prohibition against meeting with him, I'm unaware of it."

Apologies in advance for the rambling.
I saw something that disturbed the living hell out of me today, and I've been thinking about how to address it, but I can't seem to make a line in my head with all my thoughts, so I'm just going to write.
As many of you know, there was a news report of some of the abuses at Gitmo today. The most disturbing of which included smearing menstural blood on the faces of detainees. Beyond being disgusting, this is also a violation of one of the more important laws of Islam. This is the equivalent of making an orthodox Jew eat ham.
Because politicians are afraid of pissing me off.
Let me begin this by saying I think John Kerry is a wonderful guy, and I'm proud to have voted for him. I think he would have been a very good president, if not an excellent one. The problem here is an institutional one, and not necessarily with him or his campaign.
More below.
"Spouse
Hazel Hastings (November 1915 - 26 August 1930) (his death)
Frances Chaney (1905 - April 1915) (divorced) 1 child
Father of Lon Chaney Jr."
So as it turns out, CHENEY DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A DAUGHTER! Personally, I think it was pretty irresponsible of the Kerry campaign to not even go onto IMDB to find that out.
"Blacks are gagging on the donkey but not yet ready to swallow the elephant."
Yeah, fantastically appropriate coming from a guy who can't handle the word "shit" being used about him. So, I propose:
As we all have heard, and much to our collective disgust, Bush has been touting himself as a "peace" president, and how the next 4 years are going to be a time of peace (that's why we're getting rid of you, isn't it Mr. President?). I think this is a VERY good sign. The talk of delaying the elections in the event of a terrorist attack a couple of weeks ago had me worried of at least complicity by the administration, if not something more sinister. But Bush calling himself a peace president, won't that just make him look that much worse if something does happen?
