Daily Kos

Another dirty f*ing hippy

Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 01:03:08 AM PDT

I read two road's excellent diary and found myself baffling myself.  This statement could have been written by me:

I WAS BORN IN 1953 SMACK IN THE MIDDLE of white, lower working class suburbia.

The historical setting seemed so clear when reading the diary. Yet, I began to simultaneously agree and disagree within single points made in the comments. It seemed important to counter my own arguments within myself.  But it all seems to converge on one main idea:

Children of the 60's did change the world -- if even just a little -- by just changing our own perceptions and living our lives differently.  And for many of us, it has been hell.

Hoping against Hillary

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 07:04:54 AM PDT

I feel the despair of the coming trauma when a bush league ploy robs us of another president.  My hand goes to my head, rubs my temples and grabs my hair.  I am trying to reach into my mind for an explanation of this discomforting ache.  Watching the faces of Hillary forces something to haunt me from within -- something that will swallow me, feast on me, consume me.

Don't read this, it's only words

Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 12:11:19 PM PDT

I'm stunned that the Clinton campaign is presenting such a fallacy of ideas.  Let me begin with the uproar she is spreading about the "plagiarized" words that she accuses Obama of stealing from Gov. Patrick:

Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign wants everyone to see a campaign speech made in 2006 by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick just before he won that office and a recent speech by Sen. Barack Obama.

At the link, there is a video that shows that the two speeches are just about identical from the two men.  Further in the article, Gov. Patrick states:

"Sen. Obama and I are long-time friends and allies. We often share ideas about politics, policy and language. The argument in question, on the value of words in the public square, is one about which he and I have spoken frequently before. Given the recent attacks from Sen. Clinton, I applaud him responding in just the way he did."

Since Gov. Patrick doesn't mind that Obama borrowed his ideas, why should Hillary?  Especially since she has so little regard for words anyway!  Here lies the fallacy.

NOW and THEN, OVER and OVER

Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 02:18:01 PM PDT

After reading New York N.O.W. Trashes Ted's Obama Endorsement! I was inspired to write this.

Just my opinion and perspective, but I don't think NOW gives a rat's ass about what I think.

I have great respect for the mountains that NOW has moved over the years -- but my impression is that these are groups of involved women that push the agenda with little regard for MY opinion.

Not another Al Gore diary

Tue Nov 13, 2007 at 11:45:45 AM PDT

This isn't an Al Gore diary.  It isn't a plea for anyone to run or not run.

In fact, I'm not really sure why I even still read Daily Kos; all of the candidate/politician/current event diaries droop my spirits to lows unfamiliar to me.

This diary is about me -- an average citizen who reads and gets involved when I can.  And it's about my impression of heroes-- how they don't live in mansions in capitals, but instead walk among us in public forums and private meetings.

Al, it's me. Just me.

Tue Nov 06, 2007 at 12:53:37 AM PDT

I'm just one lone whisperer in the valley of shadowed echoes.  When I scream, there is still a dampened whimper that cannot seem to reach past the winded, stifling silence.

I am a nobody -- a mosaic of molecules that formed into a creature that formulates thoughts and moves through a determined time.  I am a crystalline structure that will dissipate into misted elements to be tossed to distant suns.

And yet I presume to matter more than matter.

Kossacks:  Get off your High Horse

Sat Feb 10, 2007 at 06:27:42 PM PDT

With all of the arguments that have been made about making Dkos a reputable, respectable blog and forum, it seems a little hypocritical to have (on the rec list) this diary:  The Horsef***er Conspiracy.  The diarist doesn't just use the word 'fuck' as an adjective (such as 'fucking Haliburton'), he/she uses it as a verb to describe someone's sex life with a horse.

Ringing in My Mind

Sun Dec 24, 2006 at 09:17:02 AM PDT

While reading kuulray's diary: Peace on Earth - There is Hope I was reminded of impressions that still reverberate inside of me.  When the bells on churches slip into song, the sound reaches far beneath the gloom of bootsteps on ashened snow, strikes through the coats that layer out the icy wind, and settles into a snug core connecting disjointed times.

F#ck this crap about 2008

Tue Dec 05, 2006 at 03:17:56 PM PDT

I am disgusted with all of the noise EVERYWHERE about who is going to run in 2008!

We've got a f#cking war going on, we JUST HAD an election and haven't even sworn the newbies in yet, and we haven't even agreed on agendas while they are picking out office space!

Yet, there are already FUNDRAISERS being planned and "statesmen" are picking out their tuxedos and gowns for the next gala event.

Baker: Told ya so!

Sun Dec 03, 2006 at 11:57:23 PM PDT

From The Times Online we are treated to a glimpse of the idiocy of Bush II.  James Baker first points out how everything that has happened in Iraq was predicted on the first Bush's watch -- which is why Daddy Bush didn't take Baghdad.  Then, he smooths over it by saying that the current president did the right thing.

Sorry.  Can't have it both ways.

While Dems are "picking out drapes", GOP is cleaning house

Tue Oct 31, 2006 at 11:55:19 PM PDT

While cruising azcentral.com tonight, I came across an article for Wednesday's edition of The Hill.

It seems that the GOP is ready to clean house and Jeff Flake (R) wants a 'clean sweep'.

AZ-05: Former Atty General calls J. D. Hayworth liar

Mon Oct 30, 2006 at 10:33:45 PM PDT

My brother is a registered republican (he just likes to mess with their heads).  He just had a message on his answering machine from Grant Woods who appears to be calling his "fellow republicans" to give them a message about J. D. Hayworth.

That's gotta give Harry Mitchell a great boost!

Stem cells and 'the right to life': Two personal stories

Sun Oct 29, 2006 at 01:31:32 PM PDT

It's all been said before, I know.  The arguments about the 'right to life' of a cluster of cells versus 'the right to life' of a complete human being.

Well, I'm going to say it again anyway, and then ask you all to do something very simple.  Reading some other recent diaries has compelled me -- inspired me -- to write yet another one.

Since it's all been said before, I'm not providing links.  This is just an anecdotal, emotional plea.

AZ GOP asks mayors to resign; They support Janet

Sat Oct 28, 2006 at 08:07:29 AM PDT

The Arizona Republic reports today that the GOP has asked three republican mayors to resign because they endorsed democrats.

GOP leaders from Legislative District 4 on Friday called for the resignations of three West Valley mayors, all registered Republicans, because of their endorsement of Gov. Janet Napolitano, a Democrat.

To Roger Waters, with love

Wed Oct 04, 2006 at 06:43:19 AM PDT

This is a diary that documents an enlightenment that is a part of my life.  I hope that one day Roger Waters will google his name and find this sincere testament.  I thought that some here at DKos may have similar wishes or experiences to pass on.

If you don't want to trudge through the whole thing, just go down to the last couple of paragraphs.

Handbags and Terrorists

Mon Oct 02, 2006 at 01:48:35 AM PDT

An article in the Arizona Republic caught my eye today.  Just another front page article about crime in the valley.  But wait -- did it say something about handbags and terrorists ?

Wake up, Republicans. Vote Dem or stay home!

Tue Sep 19, 2006 at 06:42:55 PM PDT

A friend of mine sent an email to me that he had sent to his republican friends.  I got his permission to share it with Kossacks.

With a possible war with Iran ramping up, this is a look at the cost of the Iraq war and the economic impact on our future.
