Food-borne illness (not food "poisoning" please) is scary. We've come to expect that food in America should be nutritious and affordable. The recent outbreak of food-borne infection by E. coli strain O157:H7 rattles our assumption that our nutritious and affordable food is also safe to eat. And makes us scared. And when we're scared we seek out simple solutions.
Today's popular and recommended diary "The poop on Spinach" [http://www.dailykos.com/...] is informative and provocative. Unfortunately, the preponderance of commentary, outside of the scatalogical humor, was emotional big beef-bashing and organic farming cheerleading.
