Hahahaha, so I am sitting here in my office today streaming ABC's coverage of the Libby indictment getting ready to head home for the weekend at 5. I am a self-employed attorney in the Boston area. My phone rings. Since my secretary went home early, I pick up. And guess who it was?
This is pretty good. I realize this is just barely worth a diary, but I think most Kossacks will enjoy a nice anti-Fox rip fest song. Check this out, the tune is catchy. It rips FOX and O'Reilly and others and shows the false media buildup to the war. I enjoyed listening to it, hope most of you do too.
So I am reading a sports blog tonight when one of the regular neanderthal braindead morons who has a habit of posting a bunch of talking points he just picked up from Drudge and the other idiotic blogs he reads posts how disgusted he is with the media over their post-hurricane coverage. To him, the media is just about finding a way to blame Bush.
So this wench wants all Arabs strip-searched if they come within 100 yards of an airport? I swear what is wrong with these Nazi's? Have they learned nothing from history?
Another Iraq war veteran is running for Congress as a Democrat. This is Patrick Murphy who is running against a vulnerable Republican incumbant in a moderate district.
It really has bothered me to see two outstanding people dragged thru the mud this week. To see Valerie Plame, who served her country for decades, who risked her life for our well-being, who gave up part of her life for a higher calling being smeared recalls to me the slime tactics used against John Kerry, who went to war on behalf of this country and then had to see that service used against him. I know politics is a blood sport, but there needs to be some honor somewhere.
You know what I hate? When conservatives in an argument resort to trying to grab credit for progressive things they ideaologically oppose such as social security, or the civil rights act of 1964 or enviornmental protection, etc. because they know those ones are popular and have worked.
Lawrence O'Donnell is becoming a star in my mind. He is what all the media should be. I loved it when he called The Swift Boaters the lying scum they were.
Now he is checking in again today on our Nation's Birthday about another lying scum bag, Karl Rove. Here is some new analysis from his latest post this afternoon:
A new CNN poll has a remarkable 59% of respondents against the war, while only 39% still approve of it.
Meanwhile, for only the second time in a CNN/Gallup poll, Bush's job disapproval rating is higher than his job approval rating. 51% disapprove of the job he's doing, 47% approve.
"The potential crimes of George Bush reduce Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton's misdeeds into subjects for a comedy act."
This is the powerful line in a new column in tomorrow's Palm Springs Desert Sun. The dam is begining to crack. First it came slowly, now its picking up speed all the time.
Stephanie Miller is a progressive radio talk show host many of you may be familiar with. For those who aren't, she's great. You have to hear her. Her show is funny, interesting, she battles right wing nitwits who call her in such an entertaining fashion and she seems like a real pleasant person. Interestingly, she comes from a right-wing family as her dad was actually Barry Goldwater's VP running mate in his 1964 run for President. She obviously went in an entire different direction, politically. I have heard her talk about it on the air.
I know in recent months there have been a lot of conversation on DailyKos about and by converts to the left. There are some of us who used to be situated on the right and now find ourselves firmly emplanted on the left. To me, that gives me hope. Lets face it, we will need to convert some people, not an unobtainable amount, but some to our viewpoints to get back Congress and the White House. We're on the right side of the issues, so all it really takes is patience and hard work. Since things are a bit slow, I think it okay to bring this subject up again. I originally wrote most of the below as a comment, but I was kinda late to the diary after it had basically come to a conclusion so wanted to bring most of it up again. I think it was decent enough to reprint the majority of it to tell my story of my journey from right to left. Here it is:
I found a listing of the two of them speaking at the same conference together last September.
The Conference was held between September 16-18, 2004 in DC and was entitled the "GOPUSA Issues and Action Conference"
I am not sure anyone has diaried on this conference before, so excuse me if so. I admit I was tied up and unable to do much blogging until this weekend, so could have missed it. Still, it is interesting Rove was listed as a speaker for a conference run by Gannon's employer, GOPUSA, and which Gannon/Guckert himself was scheduled to speak at. Here is a Freeper post stating both Rove and Gannon were scheduled to speak:
Now comes a story that Lynn Swann, former Pittsburgh Steeler Super Bowl hero wide receiver and Hall of Famer, is considering running for the Republicans against the Democratic Governor Ed Rendell in 2006.
This is a bit of a frivolous diary, I admit. But part of the so-called "southern culture" that red state types blather on and on about is football. Supposedly they play it the best, are the best fans, its part of the southern tradition, yada yada yada.
Has everyone seen this site? It just came to my attention today, so I am sorry if this is a repeat diary. I recommend spending your time browsing the gallery. Towards the end, you start to get responses from Europe and other countries. Pretty cool. In any event, this site could occupy you for a few hours if you have some idle time this weekend. Remember, check the gallery. Anyways, here it is:
