4TH Anniversary of the Iraq War Taos Plaza, March 17, 2007

Taos New Mexico is a small town in northern New Mexico with a world class ski area, intense natural beauty, one of the only community schools in the U.S. actively promoting and delivering a 21st century curriculum, renown musicians, artists and writers, as well as  a proportionally large population of progressive activists.  It is the home of "A.C.T.," Action Coalition of Taos.  A.C.T.  was started in 2002 to oppose Bush’s Iraq War and has persistently drawn attention to our local community embarrassment, Donald Rumsfeld’s, misdeeds.

This Saturday’s protest on the Taos Plaza, a traditional town square, was well attended and exciting.   One highlight was a "rant" written and spoken by John Nichols, author of "The Milagro Beanfield War," "The Magic Journey" and "The Nirvana Blues."  Both his "Wizard of  Loneliness" and "Sterile Cuckoo" were also successful films.

His rant brilliantly expresses the ire, irony and frustration many of us feel.  I have included it, with John’s permission, below the fold.
