A three-judge panel rendered summary judgment yesterday (12/27/07) in the contested election between Independent Patricia Mancini and Republican Price Jett Jr., dismissing Junior's complaint and assessing him court costs.

Stafford County School Board-elect member Patricia Mancini ran a low-key non-partisan public-interest campaign against a Republican-backed write-in candidate and won on November 6. Now the Republicans have sued to force a "re-count", forcing Mrs. Mancini to mount a costly legal defense.

On November 6, Patricia Mancini, a non-partisan public-interest candidate, won 51% of the vote in Stafford County's George Washington District. While she was the only candidate on the ballot due to the dropping out of the Republican who was on the ballot, the GOP bankrolled a furious write-in effort for Price Jett Jr.

Former Delegate Albert Pollard addressed the Stafford County Democrats Saturday, April 28. Pollard is the Democratic candidate to replace retiring Republican State Senator John Chichester in the 28th Senatorial District.

The rumors were true. John Chichester, the long-serving State Senator who gave the Virginia Republican party some credibility as a governing force, is retiring. This opens up a seat that was out of play.

On Dec. 21, 2006 I diaried about e-mailing my Congresswoman, Jo Ann Davis, following Virgil Goode's bigoted statements regarding Muslims and Rep. Keith Ellison's taking his oath of office on a Koran. Yesterday, I got a response from Rep. Davis.

We're still at-risk and facing a formidable and wealthy Republican Party, but we have a pulse, we're growing, and we plan to do some damage in 2007 and 2008.

Thursday we got an e-mail from MoveOn, there's a victory party at a local Indian Restaurant (appropriate!) Saturday night. Since my wife and I had worked hard for Jim Webb yay! and Shawn O'Donnell sob we thought it sounded good. It was our first MoveOn-type party.
