RI SEN: Who's Accountable? We are!

Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 07:13:16 AM PDT

An examination of partisanship absent the accountability of leadership gives us our local and global implications until we do more.

RI SEN: The "17%" Conundrum: Issues vs. Partisan Politics

Tue Oct 03, 2006 at 06:48:04 AM PDT

There is a schism that exists in Rhode Island electorate with the impact of too much power with one party. Special interests have benefited by Democratic control at the state level and Repulican control at the national level making the selection of the US Senator more difficult between Lincoln Chafee and Sheldon Whitehouse as "issues" prevail over partisan ship with the 17% still undecided.

RI SEN: Election Politics: Fact, Fiction and Fantasy

Wed Sep 06, 2006 at 03:08:47 AM PDT

Few know what Dewey thought the day after his defeat to Truman.  The rhetoric flies and grows deep.  The psyops of politics and operatives is someting to behold.  There are many opinions out there of what people think and will do.

Who hasn't witnessed the myriad of reasons for fuel prices recent decline and previous increases?  How many anticipated these events?  Likely it's the same number offering investment advice who possess Warren Buffet's wealth.  If their knowledge was that uncannily good, they'd all be wealthy and not working for those who are.

RI SEN Race: 10 Reasons NOT to Elect Sheldon Whitehouse

Sat Sep 02, 2006 at 01:23:05 PM PDT

On September 12, Rhode Islanders are going to be asked to vote on either Sheldon or Carl Sheeler.  Chris Young is on the ballot.  He is also running for Providence mayor.

There are glaring differences that $2 million in television ads will not hide. In lieu of those who claim this post is negative, Sheldon had the opportunity to discuss the issues in over a dozen debate forums meant for discourse; however, he believed doing so was not to his advantage.  True, but it's to the public's benefit, as the seat is not his.  It belongs to Rhode Islanders.

In fairness, I will reflect where my background and traits differ from his own.

RI-SEN: The Sheldon Whitehouse Facade

Fri Sep 01, 2006 at 01:12:42 AM PDT

The issue of campaign finance reform is a double edged one.  Whitehouse has been a vocal supporter for such reform; however, behind the scenes much of the millions he has raised have come from the same industries he claims is hindering the middle class economy. Is this a prelude from the "bite from the apple" he would be seeking if successfully winning his primary in Rhode Island?

In a tongue in cheek 60 second commercial spoof on how this sense of entitlement reveals itself, Sheldon is shown as a Ken Doll wearing a tuxedo and royalty garb sitting atop monopoly money.

These issues and Sheldon's vascilating on his Iraq war stand have called into question his commitment to be a legacy for Rhode Islanders or simply his patrician self.

Five Years Since 9/11: "Support Our Troops" New Meaning

Mon Aug 28, 2006 at 12:27:32 PM PDT

The implications of a prolonged war in Iraq on domestic issues grow daily.  Our pride in our military will be more meaningful when we recognize the cost in lost and shattered lives now and in the future. The alternative to allowing the yellow ribbon magnets to fade may be either an emergence of a reinstituted draft after November 2006 elections or a weakened military against future threats.

As a former combat officer and candidate for elected office, "never forget" has a more profound meaning that will shape our country for future generations.

The choice how is ours.

Whitehouse's "Wait & See" Middle East Policy Costs Lives

Wed Aug 23, 2006 at 08:34:10 AM PDT

Rhode Island's 118,000 veterans and 4,000 guard troops need to know where Democratic US Senate candidate really stands on his middle east policies.  Their lives are in the balance.

Would You Connect with a $350 per hour bird watcher

Tue Jul 25, 2006 at 06:28:04 AM PDT

In today's Providence Journal, reporter Scott McKay, a Whitehouse supporter, references Sheldon Whitehouse's effort to recondition his patrician image and connect with the middle class and blue collar folks.

Time to return to finishing school... there's just not too many folks who are going to say... "Yeah, that's the guy I want to have a beer with... he says he's bored earning $350 an hour peering into his binoculars looking out the window earning more in two hours than more than half the state's population takes home in a week."

Be who you are Sheldon.  There's no shame in being born into priviledge, but for God's sake don't act as if you'd invite me or most of my buds for a slice after the primary.  I don't have a membership to the Newport Yacht Club and my kids go to public school.  There's no separate trust fund and my family felt the pain of inadequate health care and social security protection.

Sheldon Whitehouse Can Be Beat

Mon Jul 17, 2006 at 02:31:30 AM PDT

There's fewer than 60 days until the Rhode Island US Senate race primary.  The Whitehouse camp uses the cute tag line "A Whitehouse in Washington You Can Trust".  It may be the campaign's downfall.

During this period, the ProJo, local media and GOP opponents will raise issues about Sheldon's "legacy" and performance as the state's A/G and post gubernatorial loss to Myrth York.  Currently, he has declined multiple requests from the media for a debate.

He may face inquiry about the amounts and souces of campaign funds or state ethics investigations involving financial disclosure and reporting.  He may need to address his "flip flopped" stance on the Iraq war and a campaign that alleges it has had no primary to elected officials and the media.

Rhode Islanders want bold vision tied to RI's future that  addresses it's working family issues. They resist the cronyism that has benefited the few over the many and has crippled the state with heavy taxes.

It may well be they will come to believe Two Whitehouses are One Too Many in Washington...
