Intra-Palestinian Turmoil - Explosions in Gaza

Sat Jul 26, 2008 at 01:37:08 PM PDT

A bomb went off in Gaza killing 5 Hamas operatives and a 5 year old Palestinian girl.

The Hamas government in Gaza convened on Saturday for an emergency meeting following the unexplained car blast that killed five of the group's operatives and a 6-year old girl. In response to the explosion, Hamas security forces launched a broad arrest operation and have so far taken a reported 200 Fatah operatives into custody to the prison facility known as 'Gaza's Guantanamo.

Uh oh. Torture anyone? 200 arrests for one bombing. Jesus, that's a bit extreme , oh yeah, that's Hamas we're talking about..... So ok, that sounds about right.

A Hamas spokesman vowed the perps will be hung and shot simultaneously.

"Those who carried out this crime are making war on God, on the security of Gaza, and on the resistance," he said. "They will not be released after six months but will be hanged from the gallows and shot."

Hamas Getting Stronger During Truce

Fri Jul 25, 2008 at 01:45:48 PM PDT

So no surprises here. As anyone who knows anything about Hamas and isn't a Hamas apologist predicted, Hamas has been busy rearming, planting mines, building new and improved missiles, smuggling in better rockets and weapons, consolidating their iron grip on Gaza. I mean it's the A B C's of Islamist rule.

Hamas has been taking advantage of the truce in order to plant mines in wide areas in the Gaza Strip, Shin Bet Director Yuval Diskin warned the Knesset's Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

"This is one of the reasons I objected to the ceasefire," he said. "I'm not saying how we should do things, but in order to fight terror we have no choice but to be present in the area."

The Shin Bet chief added that the truce is enabling Hamas to get stronger. They have not abandoned their long-term plans. They were not required to stop the weapons smuggling and return (kidnapped soldier) Gilad Shalit in return, and they have achieved their main goals."

Young Palestinian Arab Children Taught Terror

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 03:47:00 PM PDT

More insanity in Palestinian Arab schools. Pay attention at the very beginning — literally five seconds in — and you’ll see the kiddie jihadis rush the stage as the "Israeli soldiers" fall down dead.

Great. Young kids being turned into terror tots. Like father like son. You've got Hamas flags, black hoods, fake ? guns, missiles and goose stepping marches around the stage in front of beaming parents.

They are five and six years old.
The children of Hamas.
You be the judge.

I don't see any love thy neighbor anywhere.

Watch this bizarre display of Hamas indoctrination and hate.

Great News: Arabs Generally Happy in Israel

Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 08:53:33 AM PDT

A recent opinion poll conducted by Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government found that 77 percent of Israeli Arabs would rather live in Israel than in any other country in the world.

The survey of 1,721 Israelis, both Arab and Jewish, also showed that 73 percent of the Jews and 94 percent of the Arabs want Israel to "be a society in which Arab and Jewish citizens have mutual respect and equal opportunities."

The Kennedy School said in a statement that the poll produced a number of results it termed surprising, pointing to a higher level of co-existence than might have been anticipated

Professor Todd Pittinsky, research director of the Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership and lead researcher for the poll, said that the results pointed to a contrary phenomenon. Much media coverage focuses on the divisions between Jewish and Arab citizens in Israel, and not enough on the sincere and concerted efforts to coexist peacefully, Pittinsky said in a statement.

In addition, a whopping 68 percent of Jewish citizens support teaching conversational Arabic in Jewish schools to engender co-existance.

Palestinian PM Fayyad Raises 1.4 Billion Dollars in Investments

Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 12:17:50 PM PDT

I don't believe this was diaried here. hmmm.... In any event, the way to peace is thru economic growth in the territories. That will lay the foundations for cooperation between the two sides and make for a happy populace on the Palestinian side.

PM Fayyad, who's aligned with Pres. Abbas , got a $1.4 billion dollar investment for businesses in the WB a couple of weeks ago  -  creating jobs, thereby creating conditions for peace.

Bethlehem, West Bank - A key international investment conference in Bethlehem, aimed at boosting a Palestinian economy emerging from years of violence, has raised 1.4 billion US dollars, Acting Palestinian Prime Minister Salem Fayyad said Friday.

Participants at the conference agreed to invest some 650 million dollars in a new mobile phone company, Watanya, which is to compete with the only Palestinian mobile phone company currently operating in the Palestinian autonomous areas - Jawal.

They also pledged to invest 530 million dollars in real estate, 100 million in industry, 65 million in Information Communications Technology (ICT), 20 million in insurance and 12 million in food processing, Fayyad told the closing session of the three-day conference Friday.

Ahmadinejad Goes Nuclear...er, I mean He Threatens the US

Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 01:46:41 PM PDT

"Today, the time for the fall of the satanic power of the United States has come and the countdown to the annihilation of the emperor of power and wealth has started.

I tell you that with the unity and awareness of all the Islamic countries all the satanic powers will soon be destroyed, he said to a group of foreign visitors ahead of the 19th anniversary of the death of revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Ahmadinejad also again expressed his apocalyptic vision that tyranny in the world be abolished by the return to earth of the Mahdi, the 12th imam of Shiite Islam, alongside great religious figures including Jesus Christ.

"With the appearance of the promised saviour... and his companions such as Jesus Christ, tyranny will be soon be eradicated in the world."

Ahmadinejad has always been a devotee of the Mahdi, who Shiites believe disappeared more than a thousand years ago and who will return one day to usher in a new era of peace and harmony.

New Palestinian Poll: Hamas Crashes

Mon Jun 09, 2008 at 04:10:51 PM PDT

Well Hamas's numbers are back in the dumpers where they've generally been all aong. The only reason they spiked last March was because Hamas blew a hole in the wall along the border with Egypt, allowing Gazans entry and allowing all sorts of weapons smuggling into Gaza, the ol' misdirection play.

So the people gave Hamas a bump for a bit. But now take a look:

RAMALLAH, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A public opinion poll has revealed a jump in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' popularity and a majority of people opposes his resignation.

According to the poll, conducted by Near East Consulting Company, 73 percent of the people trust Abbas while 27 percent trust deposed Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haneya.

Fifty-nine percent recognize Prime Minister Salam Fayyad government as the legitimate one while 24 percent sees Haneya's government as the true one.

Hamas Admits Using Women and Children as Human Shields / w video

Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 02:40:00 PM PDT

This is why they have formed human shields of the women and children

We desire death like you desire life ...that's quite the pronouncement.

So what can you say? That's the Hamas strategy. But it's never been admitted to so clearly, as in this video.

Hamas commits war crimes by firing thousands of rockets into Israel from Gaza, which finally provokes a forceful response. Hamas then screams about civilians killed - even tho that's their admitted plan -and watches with glee as the worldwide media prints the stories. Quite the trick.

Western TV blasts the stories on newscasts. Images of dead civilians get played round the clock on Arabic satellite television channels as well.

What a sham. What a disaster for the Palestinian people. They're pawns of the Islamists. Brainwashed or forced into sacrificing their lives for a hard core Islamist theology.

Abbas's PA Honors Terrorist Who killed Israeli Students

Sun Mar 09, 2008 at 02:09:10 PM PDT

Mahmoud Abbas's official Palestinian Authority daily newspaper has honored the terrorist who gunned down eight high school students at point blank range with the status of shahid, or holy Islamic martyr.

The official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida prominently placed a picture of the point-blank child killer on the front page, with the caption, "The Shahid Alaa Abu Dheim." In a page one article on the massacre at the Mercaz yeshiva, his crime was again defined as an act of martyrdom (shahada).

Hamas Claims responsibility for Shooting in Israel, then doesn't

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 09:11:12 AM PDT

Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip claimed responsibility today for a militant attack on a Jerusalem rabbinical seminary that killed eight Israelis.

A Hamas radio presenter said the group's military wing had "promised a jolting response" to this week's violence in the Gaza Strip....

The radio referred to the Jerusalem attack as "the fruits of what happened in Jebaliya" and called on believers to "celebrate this victory against the brutal enemy."

Yes, it's been reported far and wide that Hamas has claimed responsibility for yesterday's attack in Israel that killed eight students.

Iran, The IAEA, and UN Sanctions

Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 03:35:59 PM PDT

Here's an interview with Matthew Bunn ,a senior research associate in the Project on Managing the Atom in the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University's John F Kennedy School of Government. Bunn says the IAEA report is by no means a clean bill of health regarding the state of Iran's nuclear program.

The report includes troubling new information about procurement and other activities by Iran that the agency judges to be "relevant to nuclear weapon R&D [research and development]" - not just civilian enrichment. This includes "the testing of high voltage detonator firing equipment; the development of an exploding bridgewire detonator (EBW); the simultaneous firing of multiple EBW detonators [especially relevant to designing and building implosion-type nuclear weapons]; and the identification of an explosive testing arrangement that involved the use of a 400 meter shaft and a firing capability remote from the shaft by a distance of 10 kilometers".

Iran continued Nuclear Weapons work Beyond 2003

Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 10:32:11 AM PDT

Here are a few reports documenting evidence presented to the IAEA from "multiple sources" stating Iran continued nuclear weapons work beyond 2003.

VIENNA (AFP) — Documentation presented Monday to the governors of the UN's nuclear watchdog suggests Iran continued Nuclear Weapons work Beyond the 2003 date cited in a recent US intelligence report, diplomats said.

The briefing focused on allegations of Iran's involvement in weaponisation studies.

The board was presented with material "from multiple sources" suggesting "detailed work put into the designing of the warhead, studying how that warhead would perform, how it would be detonated and how it would be fitted to a Shahab-3 missile," Smith said.

The material was "serious and substantial," the ambassador continued.

Gaza Erupting?

Wed Feb 27, 2008 at 02:00:03 PM PDT

Israeli college student killed by rocket fire from Gaza.

A student at Sapir College in Sderot was killed and one other person wounded by shrapnel after a Kassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit the western Negev campus.

The rocket that struck the college's parking lot was one of a barrage of six fired late Wednesday afternoon, two of which landed in Sderot. One rocket hit and caused severe damage to a residential building in the city's Neveh Eshkol neighborhood. No one was wounded.

Earlier, a barrage of 11 rockets slammed into Sderot, sending four people into shock. One hit a factory cafeteria shortly after some 100 workers had left the room. The building sustained serious damage.

http://www.jpost.com/...

Well it seems Hamas and militants in Gaza have been firing many more rockets into Israel than had been the case in the past and those rockets seem to be causing more damage, injuries and in this case the death of a young Israeli college student.

Iran "Nuclear Questions Remain"

Fri Feb 22, 2008 at 09:54:55 AM PDT

So there's a new IAEA report on Iran's Nuclear Program:

here's a round up of some news on it: The key point is that questions still remain regarding Iran's efforts to weaponise it's nuclear program. This of course is the most important question and the one outstanding question remaining.

As expected, an IAEA report also confirmed that Iran continued to enrich uranium despite two sets of U.N. Security Council sanctions to punish it for defying council demands that it suspend such work, which can generate fuel for nuclear reactors and the fissile core of warheads.

An 11-page report obtained by The Associated Press suggested all other major issues that had raised past suspicions about Iran's claims to be working only on a peaceful nuclear energy program had either been fully resolved or were "no longer outstanding at this stage."

But it said Tehran rejected as irrelevant the documentation that purportedly shows Iran conducted tests of missile trajectories and high explosives and researched a missile re-entry vehicle — activities that most likely would be part of weapons development. Questions also remained on diagrams in Iran's possession showing how to mold uranium metal into warhead shape.

Fatah in Chaos / Gaza's Become Jihad Central

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 11:05:42 AM PDT

Rather than unite in the face of the Hamas challenge and the task of gaining support from the West Bank’s people, Fatah seems to be collapsing.

Or perhaps the feuds are not only over power but who gets to control the almost $7 billion scheduled to be given the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority (PA) over the next three years.

There are at least five factions operating in Fatah today, and even that is an understatement. While PA "president" Mahmoud Abbas and his prime minister, Salam Fayyad enjoy Western support, they have very little from their own organization.

YMCA Bombed in Gaza/ Ethnic Cleansing of Christians Continues

Sat Feb 16, 2008 at 02:03:06 PM PDT

A band of 14 masked gunmen forced its way into YMCA offices in the Gaza Strip and exploded a library there, Israel Radio reported Friday.

Thousands of books were reportedly burnt in the ensuing fire. The YMCA in Gaza also operates a gym and a wedding hall.

Christian Palestinians have been on the receiving end of a number of attacks in Gaza, a situation which has worsened since Hamas's coup there last June.

Christians have fled the territories in droves.

The Palestinian Christian population has dipped to 1.5% of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, down from at least 15% a half century ago, according to some estimates. No city in the Holy Land is more indicative of the Christian exodus than Bethlehem, which fell under full Palestinian control last decade as part of the Oslo Accords. The town of 30,000 is now less than 20% Christian, after decades during which Christians were the majority.

Hamas Seizes Aid Convoy Sent to Gaza

Mon Feb 11, 2008 at 09:08:57 AM PDT

Aid convoy impounded

Meanwhile, a Jordanian aid convoy of some 16 trucks with humanitarian goods such as food and medicines was allowed by Israel to enter Gaza on 7 February, with the intention of delivering the items to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS). However, police from the Islamic Hamas movement, which has governed Gaza since a takeover last June, impounded the convoy.

A spokesman for the police said Hamas was the authority in the enclave and would determine how the aid would be distributed.

The PRCS was founded by the Palestine Liberation Organization, of which Hamas is not a member, and has ties with Fatah, whose security forces Hamas routed from Gaza in the takeover. Some aid workers felt there was a political element to the decision to seize the convoy.

Jordan reportedly will not cease sending aid to Gaza, in spite of the recent incident.
