Sorry about the short nature of this diary - I would like to comment further on the larger political ramifications of this endorsement right now, but I just wanted to get this up as quickly as possible. I can't believe no one has posted this yet.......
OH-01: Bush fundraiser for Steve Chabot TODAY! Why are we not doing what we did for Darcy Burner?
Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 10:51:18 AM PDT
A while ago, when President Bush did a fly-by fundraiser for his lackey and partner-in-crime Dave Reichert in Washington's 8th district, the combined progressive netroots responded by holding a grassroots-powered fundraiser of our own to counterract the $2,000/plate event Bush was throwing for Reichert.
Today, in OH-01 (as a funny side note: the fundraiser will actually be held in Mean Jean Schmidt's district, and even better still, she's not invited ), Bush will be holding a fundraiser for Republican Rep. Steve Chabot in Cincinnatti, AS A REWARD FOR VOTING TO UPHOLD BUSH'S SCHIP VETO
This is an R+0.1 district.
5-year-old Iraqi boy doused in gas, set on fire - Please read

I'm not in the least bit ashamed to say that I shed more than a few tears the first time I read this story and saw the pre & post attack pictures of 5-year-old Youssif on CNN.com a couple days ago. Sometimes, I find the things we as human beings are simply capable of doing to eachother is just......well, unfathomable I guess is the best word.
Five-year-old Youssif is scarred for life, his once beautiful smile turned into a grotesquely disfigured face -- the face of a horrifying act by masked men. They grabbed him on a January day outside his central Baghdad home, doused him with gas and set him ablaze.
Yet, out of this terrible tragedy that showcased the very worst we are capable of - pure hatred, indescribable cruelty and a desire to see others suffer - we thankfully have the opportunity to show the polar opposite side of human nature - the side of compassion.
Should Ford be uninvited from Netroots Nation if he does not apologize?

Hi everybody, first-time diarist here. I've been a member/reader for about a year and a half now, and a DNC donor & infrequent volunteer for Dem campaigns here in Ohio for about the same amount of time or longer, and have been meaning to start to contribute to the site more by writing a diary or two on subjects important to me for a long time now. Have not done so until now mainly due to lack of time, but this morning I finally saw something that made me so mad that I just had to make some time to write a diary on the subject.
I'm referring, of course, to DLC Chairman Harold Ford's ridiculous and extremely offensive assertion this morning on MTP that this site is anti-semitic.
