OK, we all know that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. But on some rare occasions there are those who predict the repitition.
Kurt Vonnegut did this in 1961, but I don't think he meant to.

With the number of 9/11 conspiracy theory diaries being posted and the repitition of the same conspiracy questions a suggestion was made that we should put together some links to help respond to them.

Tonight was the monthly casual get-together for Democrats in Pensacola. We have some good people here who are fighting hard to make some real, positive, changes for the Florida Panhandle and the United States.

There have been several diaries today that document the smears that republicans have been using against Democrats. While reasonable discourse is preferred there are times and ways to keep the debate equalized.
It is time to use stronger terms to counter the ongoing smear. If we let the neocons steal the language of the debate once again then we are lost.
Matthew 25:40 has been mentioned several times in recent diaries, with good reason. It is a verse that defines Jesus instructions on how to treat the disadvantaged. Yet it is a verse that is ignored in the policies and attitudes of Conservative Christians.

So in these dark days, as the Bush administration spirals into a self-made hell and threatens to bring the US and maybe even the world with it I'm going to occasionally trot out some of the verses, phrases, ideas and stories that I use to keep going. Because if there is one thing that will keep us together, keep us moving forward, keep us focused on a better future, it is one thing.
The answer to the problems with voting machines lies in the same place as do all the other answers for democracy, although in this case it's a bit more specific. It lies with the people. People who are not only willing to raise the issue of voting machine problems, but are willing to work for an answer.
