An Ode to Final Exams

The semester is ending,
And our papers are due.
Our facts are unchecked,

Proof read? Are you crazy?
That's what spell check is for!
Why try to fix errors,

What can we do to stabilize Iraq?

As I explained yesterday, I believe that an immediate withdrawal from Iraq could have very negative consequences. So then, what needs to happen before we can bring the troops home?
Some level of stability needs to be reached in Iraq, and measures need to be taken to reengage the Middle East and the world body in Iraq's future. Just as importantly, we need to take decisive action to undercut the support of the insurgency, support which I believe has been in large part sustained by our post-invasion actions.

I am writing this diary because I'm very concerned by some of the opinions I've recently seen posted here at Kos. Unless I'm mistaken, a growing number of Kossaks support an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. I am convinced that this would be a huge mistake.

Tonight I had the privilege of attending a presentation by Michelangelo Signorile at Saint Lawrence University in Canton, NY. He addressed the firestorm currently sweeping the country regarding Gay Marriage, the influence of the Hate Amendment in the 2004 election, and other issues with today's political scene. I found him to be entertaining and personable, and was pleased to hear that he's a big fan of both Daily Kos and Eschaton (Both of which he was able to pronounce correctly, <cough cough> unlike some of Air America's hosts).
