I can remember when I knew no one who had ridden in a plane and when a plane (DC-3) passing over was an event and when it was found that we each had 23 chromosomes and when Crick and Watson discovered the structure of DNA, amazingly from xray refractions and when Asimov predicted no one would ever decode DNA and when inside plumbing was far from being universal and when no one I knew had health insurance and when a single worker could support a family and when only the more affluent workers had an automobile and when a sizable portion of the population did not have a drivers license and when the only credit card was a Diners Club which I had never seen.

I am adding to my hone security system as I expect burglaries and break-ins to increase as the economy deteriorates. I have lived thru several recessions and was born during the big one. The thought that this one   will make the 1930's look like "a cake walk" scares hell out of me. I live in a small subdivision and in 35 years there has never benn any trouble, leaving doors unlocked while going to the store was common.. Lately the local nightly news is getting scary, with the elderly middle class being targeted.

Sorry I could not think of a word to rhyme with tree except pee and I did not want to offend the sensibilities of thin skinned Kossacks. What I did think of was that the brainpower and writing ability of so many Kossacks not as effective as it could be.

I propose that when a democratic leader votes in a manner which is unacceptable to most Kossacks, we respond by running an uncomplimentary ad in their hometown newspaper which describes their evil deed. Likewise we would reward a leader who does a deed substantially above the norm.

I propose that this could be done by selecting via a poll some reasonable number of volunteer writers who would agree on a rotating basis to write the ads. To pay for the ads and alternately to pay the authors the author could post the ad and the cost. An easy way to accumulate the funds would be to add the add to the act blue page.

I request that you rec this so everyone has a chance to considerate it. If we have no one with more skills than I to put this idea to work, then close down the board and wear a wingnut hat. I will contribute to every ad whether or not I agree with it.

Effectiveness aside, this would allow a way to vent as opposed to ripping and tearing at each other over choice of candidates.

The basic idea is to influence the election of some targeted candidates such as Donna Edwards who is receiving a lot of attention on Kos.

I dislike burdening you with another sad story although I suspect  many of you ( and you know who you are) enjoy reading such and secretly murmuring ; ‘glad that is not me’.

This is my first ever diary so usual first timers plea applies. I think the reason coke enjoys such an edge over competitors is because it represents what America was before bush. I think all American products enjoy this slight edge.

bush has tried to repair some of the damage his roughshod personality has caused by appointing Karen Hughes 'Goodwill Ambassador' or some such. She appears to either have a problem with access to facts or to the use thereof. I think that with Elizabeth Edwards as our first lady and/or 'Goodwill Ambassador' we will sell more cokes. She is such an engaging personality that she can repair perceptions abroad in one term what george tore up in two terms.

I was leaning toward Edwards  before I began to consider how Elizabeth would affect the mix. It then became a slam-dunk. (sorry bout that)
