Volume 1 - The Quotable Ann Coulter
In Ann Coulter's new book, Godless: The Church of Liberalism, she heroically calls out the REAL problem with America: the widows of those who died on 9/11.
Remember the States!

I'll start this puppy off with a love note:
Over the past few months, Daily Kos has become my premier source of news and analysis. I love how this site has assembled people of all backgrounds (election lawyers, pollsters, elected reps, scientists, mothers, fathers, and joe six-packs) to comment on the day's events.
So in short...thank you, thank you, thank you.
Now, combing though the major blogs, including this one, I can't help but notice that most of the attention is focused on the Federal races. It's understandable, we want to comment on issues and races that provoke the interests of all who participate here. After all, the tagline for this site is "The State of the Nation".
But we must not forget the gubernatorial races. All politics is local. Democratic governors and legislatures are the key to surpressing the divisive "decoy" issues of the GOP (i.e. gay marriage, prayer in schools, intelligent design, etc.).
Lieberman on the Run and in Florida

Lieberman is grazing here in Florida.
Taking advantage of the still prevalent 2000 election hangover, Lieberman has raised about $326,989 in contributions from Florida according to the Miami Herald.

From the Times (London), posted 4 hours ago:
TONY BLAIR has instructed his aides to draw up plans for British troops to be withdrawn from Iraq and Northern Ireland by the autumn of next year.
The prime minister believes that his best chance of securing his place in the history books is with a legacy as a "peacemaker" after his reputation with the left was damaged by the Iraq war and power sharing in the province collapsed.
Well it seems that President Bush will also use this
"historic day" to announce troop withdrawals next week.
Ourselves and Our Neighbors - the Collapse of the Social Contract
Tue May 16, 2006 at 11:10:46 PM PDT
I'm going to wax philosophic here.
A general history of human government with no fixed time, place or date:
In the beginning there were people -- people like you or I. Each one of us had certain "inalienable rights" endowed by our creator (whomever he/she/it/they may be).
We had neighbors and they had the same rights endowed by their creator (whomever he/she/it/they may be).
To protect our rights, we (ourselves and our neighbors) pooled our resources. We created an organiztion to collectively secure our liberties, both economic and political.
Is it beginning to look like Fitzmas?

This is not much of a diary as it is a "fishing expedition". Does anybody have any updates on whether Rove will or has been indicted? The last I heard was that Jason Leopold (of Truthout) would reveal his sources if they lied.
The End of America...but Northrop Grumman is OK

The Senate has approved a taxpayer buyout of a wealthy defense contractor (and Katrina victim?!) to the tune of $500 million, all the while thousands of Kathrina's real victims are still homeless and jobless.
