Bayh Backs the Bus Over Obama
Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 03:05:06 PM PDT
I have class in a minute so I apologize for the short diary but good old Evan Bayh is once again concern trolling over Obama, this time about - you guessed it! - Jeremiah Wright.
My Mom Stopped Supporting Hillary on Wednesday
Sun Apr 20, 2008 at 02:09:26 PM PDT
My mother has supported Hillary Clinton from the beginning of this primary campaign. Although she's never said as much, I suspect she's one of the many who has been chomping at the bit for Hillary's candidacy for quite some time. My mom has a lot in common with Hillary - she's in her late fifties, went to law school when it wasn't so common for females to do so, built a successful career and is active in Democratic politics (although, I should note, never as a candidate).
I was home for Easter, and teased my mother at length about her candidate of choice. It can't be easy, because my dad is an Obama supporter as well (he switched from Edwards after Iowa). Although I disagreed with my mother's decision, I respected it, and knew that she had made it for solid and well-grounded reasons.
Imagine my surprise when my father e-mailed me today, and told me that she let him take the Hillary stickers off of her car.
Primarying Hillary in '12
Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 12:52:03 PM PDT
Although I have never supported Hillary Clinton for President, until last week I looked forward to the day when she returned to my state and continued serving us with her famed diligence and attention to detail.
No more.
Hillary's "Big States" Argument Debunked; No Arguments Left
Mon Mar 17, 2008 at 07:35:20 PM PDT
In his midday open thread Kos noted Obama's apparent electability advantage against Clinton. What struck me the most were the numbers out of the "big states" that Hillary claims we absolutely have to win this year:
Giuliani Plots His Comeback
Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 06:03:32 PM PDT
I almost never buy the NY Post. Not only is it a tabloid rag, with articles that can't even measure up to the free amNY, but the fact that it's owned by Rupert Murdoch means that every time I buy it I am very literally giving 25 cents to Faux News and the McCain machine.
But today I left my midtown Manhattan office hours later than I intended, and with a half-hour subway ride home to Williamsburg, it would be a while before I could truly kick back and take my mind off one of the more stressful weeks I've had in recent memory. When I passed the Post stand on Madison Avenue, I couldn't resist.
Work Hard and Play by the Rules
Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 05:08:37 PM PDT
Bill Clinton once said that the American dream stems from "work[ing] hard and play[ing] by the rules. If only his wife, Senator Clinton, would follow his advice.
The only plausible way for Hillary Clinton to secure the nomination is by overriding pledges delegates with the help of superdelegates at the convention. No matter which candidate you support, I think this should be enough to give anyone pause.
Rendell: McCain "Ideal" Republican for PA
Tue Feb 26, 2008 at 07:47:17 AM PDT
I don't know about you, but I am getting real tired of Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell stepping on Democrats' toes at every opportunity. In my book, he has now placed a close third in that category, behind Joe Lieberman and DLC Chair Harold Ford, Jr.
Will the Giants Get Slaughtered: Poll
Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 09:35:06 PM PDT
I remain in shock at the Giants' upset of Brett Favre's Packers.
As a resident of NYC but a native of NoVa, I am and will always be a Redskins fan (let the jokes commence - my middle name is Pathetic).
Not Supporting Hillary != Naderite
Sat Jan 19, 2008 at 07:25:43 PM PDT
I am getting sick and tired of seeing people angry at the Clintons' atrocious behavior over the past month being called "bad Democrats" and "Naderites." I have been mostly lurking for a while, so luckily I have avoided having these charges thrown at me. But they are indeed being thrown around, and they are not helping Hillary Clinton or her candidacy.
OMG!!!!11! Obama and Reagan Both Said "THE"!!
Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 01:44:01 PM PDT
I was just checking out BrainyQuote.com to compare some of Barack Obama's quotes with those of the evil man he idolizes. My friends, you'll never believe what I found:
Because it Doesn't Feel Like Change
Sat Dec 22, 2007 at 05:12:25 PM PDT
It's no secret that lots of people around these parts are less than excited about the prospect of a Hillary Clinton presidency. I count myself among those ranks. There are plenty of reasons to oppose Clinton's campaign: the Clintons' legacy of driving a straight line down the center, rather than standing for the values that progressives hold dear, Hillary's disturbing votes for both the Iraq disaster and the thus-far-thwarted war with Iran, the possibility that Bill's escapades will once again distract us from the task at hand.
But it is said that we vote with our hearts rather than our heads, and I am a prime example of that truism. I strongly supported Howard Dean in 2004 despite his by-and-large centrist positions on a number of issues. I convinced both of my Virginia-dwelling parents to vote for Jim Webb in the 2006 Virginia Senate primary, because although I disagreed with him on a number of important issues, at least I knew where he stood, and I trusted him (I could not say the same for his godawful oppoent Harris Miller).
Much of my support for Barack Obama is based on his positions, his biography, and the fact that I trust him the most of any of the three front-running candidates. But it is also because I am ready for real and total change.
John Bolton Beating His War Drum on CNN
Mon Nov 12, 2007 at 01:27:26 PM PDT
Sorry for the short diary but I just caught none other than John Bolton on Wolf Blitzer's show dusting off his war drum and saying that our only options in Iran at this point are "regime change" (which he claims would be achieved by support for domestic opposition) or "targeted strikes against nuclear sites," which John swears would be a "different kind of war" than we're seeing in Iraq.
Please Don't Quote Bin Laden
Fri Sep 07, 2007 at 05:29:36 PM PDT
There has been much talk today of OBL's latest video, and understandably so. The last one he put out was days before the tragic 2004 election, and arguably helped sway the total toward Bush and the resulting hell we have suffered ever since.
Reagan's Legacy: The Deutsche Bank Building
Sat Aug 18, 2007 at 06:05:48 PM PDT
The bridge collapse in Minnesota was a fresh reminder of this government's inability to even maintain our country's infrastructure, let alone tackle improvements and new projects. Of course, Katrina and the lack of progress at Ground Zero had already pulled back the curtain on what Reaganesque "smaller government" really means.
Hillary Just Lost Me Again
Tue Jul 24, 2007 at 05:15:33 PM PDT
I was never a great fan of Hillary Clinton.
Mark Warner Speculation
Sun Jul 22, 2007 at 11:29:54 AM PDT
Sitting around drinking coffee, trying to get motivated to do something this afternoon, a story in the WaPo caught my eye. Scroll down past the inane Republican horse race article and you'll see that an unnamed Virginia democrat says it's "95% likely" that former Virginia Governor Mark Warner will run either for governor or the Senate in 2008/9.
"How F****** Dare You"
Sat Jul 14, 2007 at 07:22:14 PM PDT
I am so sick of listening to the morons on the right railing against "Democrats who don't care about terrorism." Our 2008 message needs to focus on the greatly increased danger we face from Al Qaeda since GW Bush came into office.
BREAKING: Bayh Won't Run
Fri Dec 15, 2006 at 10:05:16 PM PDT
Forgive me if this has been diaried (I'm on a Morning-in-America-era dial-up modem), but Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana has announced that he WILL NOT run for President in 2008.
More on the flip...
