FEMA Detention Camps : Are YOU an "Enemy Combatant"?

Wed Oct 18, 2006 at 10:59:30 PM PDT

This is not a new story. In several comments I've read here over the last few weeks some folks have revealed their knowledge of the FEMA DENTENTION CAMPS. Up to now I have not written about this subject, but the combination of being hit with the striking down of habeas corpus in The Military Commissions Act of 2006 and just having read the diary by Major Danby about legislation to give Bush control of the National Guard, I decided I had to write about this issue.

Some of you may already be familiar with the issue, but my suspicion is that many Americans, even those who are somewhat informed on political issues still do not know. So here it is:

Poll: Should Kos allow Chevron to advertise here?

Mon Oct 09, 2006 at 07:06:23 PM PDT

In response to the heated discussion going on about the new banner advertisement that Chevron has on this site I have set up this poll. I'm curious to see what Kossacks think and what the consensus is on this subject. I personally am very much against it.

Some of the comments on the diary by Alegre suggest that Kos uses a service to book advertisers, and thus does not approve or disapprove of his clients. In the poll question I am assuming that Kos takes ultimate responsibility for the adds on his site.

The Devil and Hugo Chavez

Tue Oct 03, 2006 at 11:05:25 AM PDT

I know this story is about a week old, but since I
didn't get to post on this situation which alternately invigorated then outraged me, I thought I'd go on a little rant. Besides, Bush is still Bush, and Hugo Chavez is still one of the few internationally relevant voices willing to openly challenge his rhetoric, his hypocrisy and the consistently criminal behavior of this regime.

For the record I don't give a damn about the 24-hr news cycle. I don't take my cues on what to think, write or talk about from CNN, NBC, ABC, or any other so-called news outlet. Posting this diary will be cathartic for me, and perhaps informative to at least a few others out there. In addition, the plot has thickened since Bolthead denounced Chavez and Condi has made it her goal to keep Venezuela from garnering the soon-to-be vacant non-permanent seat on the U.N Security Council. It has turned into an all out diplomatic war, with Chavez seeing a need to check the current "unipolar" world order as well as quarantine Washington's misuse of power in Latin America.

What happened Kos ?

Mon Sep 11, 2006 at 11:15:46 AM PDT

What the hell happened?

Yesterday I read an interesting diary by "Fist of the North Star" which discussed the history of the Bush family (I now referred to them as The Bush Reich)and more specifically GEORGE BUSH SR. and his relationship to the family of John Hinkly, the man who attempted to assasinate President Reagan.

I cannot remember the exact title of the diary and cannot pull it up in a search because the diary has apparently disappeared into a diary Black Hole. Yesterday after doing three separate searches for the diary (both under my "comments" and Fist of the North Star "diaries") I was still unable to locate it. I am still unable to locate the diary this morning.

I had made three or four comments on this diary between approximately 5:30pm-6:40pm PST yesterday. There were around 50 or so comments on the diary. I was enjoying it and wanted to read and perhaps comment further on this thread. I was therefore pretty frustrated and flabergasted when it seemed to "disappear" into the Daily Kos diary black hole.

Red Alert is "Red Hot Steaming Bullshit"

Fri Aug 11, 2006 at 10:49:58 AM PDT

I commented yesterday in a thread under the diary by Bluesteel ("Please no more conspiracy theories")that this present "red alert" is absolute complete and utter bullshit.

I asked in one comment what purpose this "alert" serves for most Americans going about their chores in their day to day lives? The only answer I could come up with is that it only serves to instill fear and inspire blind obedience to BushCo and the powers that be.

Aside from those who are flying or who work at airports it is not necessary, and as others have pointed out actually SERVES the so-called terrorists by doing their jobs for them; i.e, instilling fear and anxiety -- that's what "terrorists" do!

Seeing that nobody has specifically addressed the meaning of these terror alerts in a diary I thought I would. I am quite angry about this so forgive me if I go on a rant.

A Kinder, Gentler Oliver Stone: Review of World Trade Center

Tue Aug 08, 2006 at 11:30:28 AM PDT

On Sunday I attended a special preview screening of World Trade Center, directed by Oliver Stone. Naturally, after seeing United 93, which I felt was more a propaganda piece for the "War On Terror" than anything else, I was curious to see how Hollywood rebel Stone would treat this controversial material. Although "World Trade Center" is not what one would expect from Stone, it turned out to be an powerful, engrossing film-going experience.

Officer refuses to deploy to Iraq

Sun Jul 23, 2006 at 11:45:19 AM PDT

I was thrilled this morning when I read online http://articles.news.aol.com that First Lt. Ehren K. Watada of the Army has refused to deploy to Iraq based upon his opposition to what he believes is an illegal war as well as "the deception used to wage this war", and "the lawlessness that has pervaded every aspect of our civilian leadership."

Apparently back on Jan. 25 Lieutenant Watada delivered a two-page letter to his commander, Col. Stephen J. Townsend asking to resign his commission. On June 22, the same article states, "the Third Stryker Brigade of the Second Infantry Division set off for Iraq" and that Watada "was not on the plane."

Rice says U.S. is now ready to talk

Wed May 31, 2006 at 10:21:49 AM PDT

The AP has reported in the last hour that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has reversed the U.S.' previous position and now agrees to begin talks with Iran regarding their nuclear aspirations, which include the enrichment of uranium.

In a statement Rice added the proviso that Iran must first suspend its'disputed nuclear activities, and then the U.S will come to the table.
