Senator Casey's response to the MoveOn.org debacle
Fri Oct 19, 2007 at 04:15:32 PM PDT
I received my long-awaited form-letter response to my letter to Senator Casey of Pennsylvania regarding the Senate's behavior in response to the MoveOn.org ad about General Petraeus. Like so many of us, I was outraged, and frankly, embarrassed by the Senate's response to the newspaper advertisement.. and like many others, I fired off a few emails and notes about it...
The response I got? As expected... More below, along with my own reaction back to Senator Casey.
No. of Americans killed in Iraq > No. of Americans killed in 9/11
Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 05:31:16 AM PDT
Official count of Americans killed in 9/11 attacks:
2,819.
Official count of Americans killed in Iraq: 2,813 as of 10/31, with 13 additional troops killed in November as of 11/5, bringing the total (so far) to 2,826.
Where is the pseudopatriotic outrage against the people responsible for the deaths of nearly 3,000 Americans this time around?
Another (?!?) Repub in Hot Water

This was first brought to the list by
Finnegan, but I wanted to make sure that it got some notice...and, I wanted to add a thought or two about the pathetic state of Republican ethics in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
From Saturday's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Congressman facing ethics flap
U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, who is seeking his third term in Congress, has mixed campaign activities and official government work in a manner that present and former staffers consider unethical or in violation of House rules, according to interviews with a half-dozen of them...The allegations primarily concern the use of taxpayer-funded congressional staff and resources to do work they viewed as part of Mr. Murphy's political campaign.

An Open Letter to My Friends and Family...

I posted this as a comment in the Part II thread about the fundraising push, but then right afterwards, the "Last Push" thread went up and I'm not sure that many people will read Part II any more... SO, I thought I'd try my hand at my first-ever diary in an attempt to spread the word about this fundraising effort...
Follow me below for the text of an open letter I sent to my friends and family (and everybody else I could think of..)
