Hillary Clinton : A Campaign with a Logo "you can xerox"

Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 07:00:47 PM PDT

If I understood Sen. Clinton correctly in Austin, borrowing words from other people is a bad thing. Really bad. Extremely naughty even. And she is outraged when people do that really bad thing.

So does that go for logos too?

I made a curious discovery Saturday morning while waiting in the registration line for my Senate District convention here in San Antonio...a woman wearing a white chef's jacket joined the line right behind me.  My immediate impression was that she was a Clinton supporter....but it turned out she was very enthusiastically supporting Obama, and proudly wore her Obama sticker when the Obama volunteers came by offering them to the waiting delegates...What was it about her that gave me the initial impression she was a Clinton supporter?  Looking at her again wearing her Obama sticker above the logo on her jacket, it struck me...that logo sewn on her uniform - I'd seen that red, white and blue banner before - long, narrow, three white stars on a blue field, red and white streamers following...could it be...the Hillary Clinton logo?

Austin American-Statesman wants extra payment to print precinct locations for March 4 Primary

Wed Feb 27, 2008 at 10:55:20 AM PDT

What the heck is up with this?  I saw this on Texas Kaos , which had linked to a diary by Cleanair over at Burnt Orange Report.

In a nutshell, the paper wants an extra payment of $16,000 from the County to print the precinct locations for the primary.

I can't imagine a newspaper demanding payment to print important voter information.  I think the paper needs to hear from citizens everywhere that are outraged about a decision like this.

US Embassy in Belgrade under assault during anti-Kosovo independence rally

Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 11:20:53 AM PDT

The Serbs are NOT HAPPY with the US support of Kosovo in the wake of the announcement that Kosovo would like independence.  A large peaceful rally in Belgrad has turned ugly as angry Serbs began attacking the US embassy building.  The US flag was burned off its flagpole and reports are coming in as the events unfold.  This is just a hit and run diary - I am leaving for Austin (I got a ticket for tonight's debate) and I need to go - but I wanted to give the dkos community a heads up to go check out the events as they unfold.
UPDATE:

CNN is covering events as they happen.
Turnover's diary has more info and links.  Check it out and rec it up!!  Thanks

On the ground for Obama in SAN ANTONIO!!!

Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 09:28:55 AM PDT

Howdy y'all!

Busy times in San Antonio!  I promised I'd try to get a diary up to let you all get an idea of what's happening on the ground here. And a lot has been happening quickly!  Since the Potomac landslide made it evident that the Texas primary was going to be crucial, volunteers for Obama have been coming out in droves to help out.  The field staff (22 strong!!) that flew into town early this week have been stunned at the outpouring of support and enthusiasm here in Texas!  The tiny office that the local grassroots group AlamObama opened in November was filled to overflowing Wednesday evening when the annual monthly meeting was overrun by enthusiastic volunteers eager to help win Texas for Obama.  Over 300 people packed the place, and the sidewalks outside - to hear how they could play a part in this important primary (and caucus!).  People of every description, age and race listened attentively to the newly arrived field staff and "old hands" that just a year ago were huddled around a table at Borders, talking about setting up a grassroots campaign for Obama here in the Alamo City - from 8 hopeful and determined people, a huge San Antonio campaign has blossomed! Follow the armadillo over the fold for a quick rundown of what's happening here "deep in the heart of Texas"....

Sanity in a Sea of Outrage: a tribute to Keith Olbermann

Thu Mar 22, 2007 at 07:21:56 PM PDT

OK - So we're all starting to sag from the weight of the outrages coming at us in an unending avalanche of disaster from Washington.  Take a break, Kossaks, and spend a few minutes with a champion of sanity, a man many of us have come to admire, a man who has had the courage to speak truth to power.

Another day, another outrage, it wears an intelligent person down - so what a wonderfully unexpected treat it was to find Keith Olbermann in my mailbox the other day.  One of the nice benefits of being married to a Cornellian is the opportunity to read the Cornell Alumni magazine, and this month the featured article is a delightful story about Cornell's greatest newsman, Keith Olbermann.  Happily, Cornell has the article in its entirety on the interwebs.  So, I though I'd share the link with you.

Set your TIVOs: VADM Joe Sestak to appear on CNN Wednesday, August 23

Tue Aug 22, 2006 at 07:40:52 PM PDT

I need to be brief, as I am in the middle of other work, but wanted to share this news with the dKos crowd -- Joe Sestak is scheduled to appear on CNN tomorrow morning and afternoon!  This should be great national coverage for a great candidate!  I just received an email from the campaign and thought that there may be some folks that would be interested in seeing one our netroots candidates get some press coverage. The campaign release sounded very upbeat, and they are giving "Crazy" Curt Weldon a strong challenge in PA-07, so it should be a couple of interesting segments.  I'll share the email with you below the fold:
