Another superb post from the always excellent Gordon Suber, cross-posted from Securing America. (link to Gordon’s original post: http://securingamerica.com/...
This is especially timely, as Bush is set to release his "new plan" this evening.
Peace on Earth - 2007 Peace Pledge
Tue Dec 26, 2006 at 10:47:24 AM PDT
During the holiday season, peace is in the air. We hear music, whether in the elevator, the shopping mall or at our local Starbucks, that emphasizes peace. We see commercials or movies of people making up after estrangements, singing together, reconnecting. For the religiously-inclined among us, we hear stories of peace, miracles, children, the earth's bounty, or the sun coming back after its long hiatus.
Yet, what, if anything are we each doing to bring about peace?
Mainstream media noticing Wes Clark (finally!)
Mon Nov 13, 2006 at 02:56:58 PM PDT
This just in from gordonsuber on SecuringAmerica.com:
"Bill Schnieder of CNN-TV just completed a piece on how the 2006 elections affected potential 2008 presidential candidates.
"Leading off was Wesley Clark with strong national security credentials.
"Moments later, the piece brought in the Internet
correspondent that showed a page from a DailyKos poll.
Russ Feingold had been the favorite, followed by General Clark."
And here's an article from the National Review on "The Underreported Race of the 2008 Race" (provided by souldrift, also on SecuringAmerica.com):

Interesting times ahead.

The Unity Meme

A lot of people, myself included, are upset that James Carville couldn't wait until the ink was dry to start up the Democratic Circular Firing Squad again, this time aimed at Howard Dean. Governor Dean wasn't my top pick in 2006, but has done a superb job as DNC chair - and even if he hadn't, we WON. Isn't it kind of stupid to change course AFTER a victory???
I, for one, am tired of hearing the same old same old about how un-unified the Dems are, how we always eat our young, and so on.
So, here's how I hope to stop it.
WA-08: Dinner with Darcy
Fri Sep 15, 2006 at 04:15:59 PM PDT
Okay, it wasn't dinner. It was appetizers - fruit, crackers and cheese, to be precise, plus free coffee and tea - but last night I attended a fundraiser for Darcy Burner, who is running for Washington's Eighth Congressional District, against former sheriff, first-time congressman, Dave Reichert.
The fundraiser was at the Marriott Inn in Redmond, Washington, about fifteen miles from downtown Seattle. After signing in, we had our first surprise. The person who invited both of us is a member of the Democratic Women's Leadership Forum, so we found ourselves seated directly in front of the podium - literally, the best seats in the house. A second, nice, surprise was that the room was just about full to capacity - 300 or so concerned Democrats from the Eighth or surrounding areas filling up a hotel ballroom.
