This email is making the rounds in Democrats' email lists. I got it from three different sources, so I thought I'd pass it along.

The Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club in Northern California has produced a video about the benefits of running for the Democratic Central Committee. Take a look at it after the fold.

Okay, another right wing email is making the rounds. It talks about how Democratic Senators voted against adding an amendment to an Immigration bill last year that would have added an "English as the official language of the U.S" amendment to the bill and painted any who opposed as being "loyal to illegal aliens."(complete text of email after the fold)

In these emotional times, many people seem to be wigging out and deciding that they can't be here anymore. Instead of just leaving quietly, they toss out a nice dose of vitriol toward a candidate, or other bloggers or even toward this site.

I think these are cries for help. Cries for attention. Cries of overwhelming despair.  In today's political climate, it's not hard to feel as though nothing we do or say will do any good or cause any change.

I send out humorous emails and have done so for years. In the past year or so, some of the people on my list have been sending me right wing crap. I've kept myself silent when I receive right wing emails and cartoons so that I will keep receiving them. Now, I have friends collecting them for me as well. And now, so you know what the right-wing email chains are saying, I present some of their stuff after the fold.

Progressive Democrats of America is just one of the groups sending out notices about one of the worst bills EVER to reach the Senate.

S. 1959 is a bill that gives the mal-administration one more tool to chip away at individual rights.

In the move to impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney, the online petitions abound. I've signed a number of them myself, but as we all know, real letters get better results.

With that in mind, I received an email from WDRC member R. Tamm and with his permission, I'm placing his letter template and the address where it can be sent - if you want to write a real letter to Nancy Pelosi, asking for impeachment.  After the fold...

I feel like I have a direct line to the Ku Klux Klan with these emails.  I've met both of the people who sent these and they're as nice as nice can be. But as we've exchanged humorous emails, they've slowly started dripping these into the stream.

We've been lulled into a false sense of security by a complicit traditional media. We're like the frogs who don't notice the water temperature rising until it's too late. We're in the process of being turned into a dictatorship, but there are so many places to turn our focus toward that we are spinning in place instead of focusing on the real dangers to our American way of life.

If you were to be asked, "Would you allow the American government to take away your freedoms?" you would most certainly say, "No."

But those freedoms are being stripped away, one by one.  There's an excellent article by Naomi Wolf "The End of America, Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot" at Huffington Post.

We really need to have a repository for these things.  I get these from old friends who never seem to notice that I never respond to them. But they have value in letting us know how the Rethugs think and the viral crap they send to their fellow 25 per cent'ers to keep their "We are good, liberals are bad" meme alive.

Methinks we need to rewrite and counter this. Perhaps I'll do that over the next few days. Love to hear your thoughts.

I just read an article sent to me by a member of the Northern California Wellstone group that had amazing insight into the fear-mongering tactics used by Republicans to win elections.  It answered a lot of questions I had about

how people could actually vote for Bush, who is so blatantly corrupt and who has been trashing the Constitution since the day he took office.

 A few salient quotes and some thoughts inside.

She is the perfect woman. Blonde. Striking Features. Slender. Rich. Articulate.  Wait. Excuse me. Something's coming in.

Oh no! She did it again!

I send jokes and other humorous things out to a wide range of people of all political stripes. I send nothing out political, but receive the occasional right-wing rant.

Here's an example of one I received today. Look below the fold to see what the right-wingers email to each other.

Dan Rather, who was relegated to the sidelines a while back after being force-fed a bogus story, is back with a vengeance. And guess what?  He's actually behaving like a reporter.  Now on hd.net, he's free to practice what journalists should practice, investigative journalism.

Time to harness the force of the internet to save our Republic. Instead of a third party that takes votes away from Democrats, let's nominate Democratic candidates from a new source: the blogosphere.

The Bush cabal still exists and "thrives" unchallenged in large part because the media are no longer watchdogs for America (with a very few exceptions).

Instead, the media largely spins the "news" to make this "administration" look as wholesome and as worthwhile as possible.

And they bury the death, destruction, neglect and wholesale theft committed by this right-wing administration beneath layers of Paris Hilton and other "flavor of the week" stories to distract the sheeple from the real issues of the day.

As we well know, the electoral system is in shambles after years of manipulation by corrupt politicians with right-leaning tendencies. Elections have been manipulated, security has been compromised and elections have been stolen.  One of the most important things we need is a PAPER TRAIL so that election results can be audited without all the fol de rol of trying to attain machine source codes.

If we can't believe in our elections, it is very difficult to believe in the resulting results - and the politicians elected using suspect results.  And it allows the dominant party in power the ability to remain in power. So, it is imperative that we act now.
