Clinton Lies Continue

Sat May 17, 2008 at 11:32:25 AM PDT

Well, I just got my latest plea from Hillary...

Write the DNC to demand that FL and MI be counted as is.

The joke title is "Count every vote," yet she just explained why we can no longer count any caucus state.  Disenfranchise much?  Disengenuous much?

I'm beginning to understand why.  More than that, I'm beginning to understand just why Debbie Whining Wasserman is whining with such a shrill an elevated voice.

Obama, Clinton, Electability and Elitism

Fri Apr 18, 2008 at 08:33:38 AM PDT

More polls are out, and not surprising to those who watch regularilly, Senator Obama continues to be more electable and carry more states.

The latest batch of polls show that either Democrat wins traditional big states like New York and California.  Just about anybody with a D behind their name would win those states.

Those are the obvious points.  I'm more concerned about Hillary's constant pushing of the unfounded charges of "elitism" and the parts of her own life she has conspicuously left out of her "fully vetted" biography.  A poster's comment today that she "has lived most of her adult life rent-free in government owned mansions..." triggered my memory of her suddenly-forgotten youth.

A Million Words a Day?

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 05:54:01 AM PDT

"...I think that, a minor blip, you know, if I said something that, you know, I say a lot of things -- millions of words a day -- so if I misspoke, that was just a misstatement."

-- Hillary Clinton, to the press yesterday

A minor blip?  A minor blip?  Followed by another gross exaggeration!

In view of her most recent "misstatements" I've tried to evaluate this latest statement from Hillary.

It looks as if this statement itself is another of her "misstatements" because

The Beauty of Race in America Today

Sat Mar 22, 2008 at 02:34:51 PM PDT

This diary is little more than the musing of a older white male WASP.  Read it only if you are bored with the news of today.  It is me, for the first time, doing what Senator Obama asked from all of us - examining so many of the stereotypes with which I was raised.  Some of them just aren't pretty, but I realize they are still a huge part of me.

Most of my life has been at the opposite end of the spectrum from the lives of Senator Obama and Governor Richardson.  But the words of both of these American heroes have really sunk in this week.

The HOPE of Barack Obama's generation, the hope of his message, the inclusion of his campaign are what I see as the greatest potential future of this country.

Email and/or Call Howard Dean - End the 7-state Strategy

Mon Mar 17, 2008 at 09:55:34 AM PDT

I just received an email from Dr. Dean requesting that I contribute once again to the National Democratic Party.  The link is labeled "LookingAhead" and I so wish he would...

I cannot do so at this time.  I find it almost laughable that Dr. Dean can talk about his excellent 50-state strategy on one hand, and then in a single sentence equally praise both Presidential candidates.

Barack Obama has demonstrated the effectiveness of a 50-state strategy and has energized so many people.  Hillary Clinton continues to boast about and pride herself on her 7-state strategy.

So here is what I did...

"Breaking News" in IL-08

Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 11:32:49 AM PDT

I just received an amazing "Breaking News" update from the Steve Greenberg (R-IL-08)campaign... snicker snicker

National Republicans Target Melissa Bean - Mar 13

Once again, the 50-State-all-seats-count strategy is paying off...

After using up about a third of Dave McSweeney's fortune last cycle (well, they were all loans, maybe Dave has paid himself back by now...), the NRCC recruited Steve Greenberg as this cycle's self-funder to run against Melissa Bean.

Greenberg is most noted for being an ex-minor-league hockey player and for moving his family businesses out of northern Illinois to the less-expensive labor market in rural Wisconsin.  Go figure.

Patrick Botterman - yesterday we lost a good one :(

Tue Mar 11, 2008 at 11:32:31 AM PDT

Yesterday afternoon, Patrick Botterman, a suburban Chicagoland activist, Campaign Manager, consultant and local Democratic leader died of a massive heart attack.  I thought he was 43, but the local paper today says 44.

Pat could be a public person when he needed to, but I think he was most effective behind-the-scenes, and had his finger into so many things for which this Kos community stands.

He will be missed by many.  I miss him.

Thoughts on Obama, Clinton, and slime

Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 02:06:39 PM PDT

I started replying to someone who had replied to one of my comments today and realized I had way too much to say in comments to a thread.

So here are some very personal thoughts on this whole nominating process as it has evolved.

Regardless of the outcome of this process, we ALL have made history.

For the first time in our country's history the nominee of a major party will either be a woman or an African-American...

Old enough to remember the Smothers Brothers?

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 11:11:00 AM PDT

They had a comedy variety show on CBS in the late 1960's.  My favorite episode was a political parody where comedy impressionist David Frye played all the main roles including President Lyndon Johnson, Hubert Humphrey, Richard Nixon and others, and Liberace was the balladeer.  It was also during the time that Tommy and Dick were "running a campaign" for actor Pat Paulsen for President.  I don't think anyone during those years gave serious thought to an actor ever becoming POTUS. Certainly I didn't.

Is this relevant now?  I think so.  That incredibly well-written parody has been popping into my head these past two weeks - almost daily.  The storyline seems to fit what I see has been happening recently in the Democratic Party.
