Sen Obama, please do your damn job - VOTE!
Thu Aug 02, 2007 at 01:39:49 PM PDT
First the disclaimer. I support Edwards (and Gore?) first, Obama next. (ABH after that.) This diary is NOT to bash-Barack. (I would not do that as long as he may stop Hillary.)
This diary is to remind the senator, and those that may wish to support his campaign, that he has a rather important job for which he is,btw , being paid to do. Namely, VOTE on the senate floor, and which he has not done in some time.
What prompted this diary is the discovery that "we" (democrats) narrowly dodged a serious bullet last week (7/20)on a Senate vote Sen Obama was to busy campaigning to do his job.
Make the jump.
Idiot Enviro Attack alert !!!
Tue Apr 03, 2007 at 05:30:31 PM PDT
Ever been to Utah's Arch Canyon? Gorgeous! Huge arches of red rock that take your breath away. But the arches form due to erosion of the rock, maybe some
of it without the help of polution, but greatly accelerated by it. I saw some arches that weren't there ten years ago, and missed some that were there, but no more. Like the glaciers, the arches are vanishing.
However, our Idiot in the White House seems to want to speed their demise before too many more people come to appreciate natural beauty and the environment. People with ugly souls HATE beauty.
The Idiot wants to negate the Arch Canyon's National Park protection and allow (for chissake) f'ing OFFROADERS to use it as an obstacle course.
I just responded to a plea for letters to my congress people from the National Resources Defense Council to stop this lunacy (idiocy(?))
Please do the same. www.NRDC.org. Thanks.
End.
FYI - Reply from Amazon.com re Coulter Site
Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 07:27:59 PM PDT
Thought someone might be interested in Amazon's response from from two hate mails sent about their adds on Coulter's site. Can't say whether or not this adds up vis a' vis the facts in this case (can't force myself to
look at her site. But for what it's worth ... at least they disclaim her.
Response:
Ann Coulter's web site is actually just one of hundreds of thousands
of members of the Amazon.com Associates Program. Associates post links
to Amazon.com on their sites in exchange for a small percentage of the
sales that result when their visitors follow these special links to
place an order with us.
Please note that we do not endorse the point of view of any of our
Associates, nor would we consider ourselves sponsors of their web
sites. In fact, our Associates include prominent web sites
representing all sides of nearly every important political and social
issue of our time.
That's all folks.
Why does the US support Israel?
Sat Feb 10, 2007 at 04:23:34 PM PDT
OK, I know, stupid question. Duhhh, because 10-15% of the vote is Jewish, and then there's AIPAC, etc, etc. What I mean is - is there a good non political reason? Or, why is supporting srael in the best interest of the US? A good reason to the contrary is related to an old World War II joke.
A German wife runs in the house and says "husband, I heard on the radio that Germany has attacked Russia." Her husband said "yes, the Fuerher believes Russia is a danger to the welfare of the German people and must destroyed by our brave soldiers." The wife went to the world globe on their lamp stand and looked at the huge expense of Russian and then at Germany. Then she asked "Liebchen, has the Fuerher seen this map?"
Can the Dems undo the damage done?
Tue Nov 28, 2006 at 02:23:13 PM PDT
I'm embarrassed to confess my gross ignorance of the mechanics and rules of my government, but alas, I must. Yes, I did pass HS Civics, but I felt it was not a big deal. Hell, we had the Constitution, Supreme Court, and a congress full of good men to protect us, didn't we?
What the Hell Happened somewhere between Eisenhower and Florida?
Anyway, my question is - Is it legal to simply propose "undo" bills to reverse crappy stuff the Repugs rammed through congress during the bad old Bush years? I know Bush still has veto power, but we could force him to use it, weakening Repug votes in '08. In fact, we might even get a
veto-proof majority on a bill or two, with the backlash election fresh in Repug minds. (Continued.)
Please don't give up on Ken Mehlman.
Fri Nov 17, 2006 at 06:10:52 PM PDT
Showing Ken Mehlman to be Gay would just too mahvelous.
I know he's gone, but not yet forgotten. We need to strike while the iron is still warm if at all possible.
Think of all the NASCAR-dad Bubbas for whom this would be just the last straw in their already intolerant little minds!
And could KOSSIES possibly dream of anything possibly more beautiful than the sight and sound of the glorious words -THE GAY OLD PARTY!
Dirty pool? Beneath our dignity? Maybe, but screw it. Let's kick 'em while there down, and put 'em out of their misery. They (and he especially)certainly deserve it.
So, if anyone knows where the dirt is buried. Please help dig it up!
Say No to "The Man"
Wed Nov 15, 2006 at 11:13:51 AM PDT
A few days ago I posted a diary that was misleading in both title and vote choice. The intent was NOT an anti-Hillary plea per se, but is best summarized in a previous
diary by xynz on Nov 11 (below the fold):
Just say No to Hillary
Thu Nov 09, 2006 at 10:11:08 AM PDT
Hillary is being (has been) thrust upon us
hoi polloi dems by "the kingmakers" as our star 2008 candidate - whether we like it or not. I do NOT. As Sundance said, "who the hell these guys", and do why they have the right to choose my next presidential candidate before any information about other people are made available to the public? (Does this sound like an Andy Rooney rant?) And no, I do not want Hillary, but that doesn't nullify the question.

PEDERSON WIN HUGE !!!
Thu Nov 02, 2006 at 11:30:02 AM PDT
This is an IMPORTANT follow-up to the great KOS news re: Early Voting for AZ Senate.
Kossacks, it would be difficult to overstate the importance of a Jim Pederson win in AZ!!! Super Bowl HUGE! (Second only to Webb v Allen, but I think that one is in the bank.)
First, Pederson himself has great attributes; 1)he is a true progressive (see his site), 2) a businessman, NOT a professional politician, 3) financed his own campaign and is not beholden to anyone (including the DNC). Also note that he didn't suck money away from other candidates (and we owe him for that).

There's Trouble Right Here in CT
Wed Nov 01, 2006 at 04:25:34 PM PDT
Regular KOS blogger, PaulVa (my son in-law), had a scary thought. What if: 1) Lieberman wins, giving dems a 1 seat majority. 2) Bush fires Rumsfeld, and replaces him with good old "Joe", 3) the repug CT governor then appoints a repug replacement for Joe?
Neither Bush nor Joe is above this crap.
(I know this too short to technically qualify as a diary,
but I couldn't find this subject, and think it is important enough to get out there.
Come on, Conn libs - BEAT TRAITOR JOE !!!
Media DOES Matter - Katie Couric???
Fri Oct 27, 2006 at 10:11:55 AM PDT
The "Media" not only matters - it IS EVERYTHING! And we know it is certainly NOT "liberal". ("The Right Wing Noise Machine" is a must read.)
On the curious CBS change from Schieffer to Couric on the evening news -
Just as I was beginning to be impressed by Schieffer's recently acquired fire and and anger at the Bushies, along comes this startling change to Katie. On her second day (the first was innocuous) she interviews Bush in a manner that would have made Tony Snow look like a bully.
