Recently in the noble city of Washington, D.C., a group of democratic legislators met to vote on the Obama proposal to compromise with republicans on the issue of tax cuts. It is reported that a chant was overheard coming from the room where the leglislators met of "Just say no." In one instance the words "f@&# the president" was uttered by a nameless 'democratic leglislator'

Whether you agree or disagree with the current health care legislation now making its way through the senate, there is no denying that it will be impactful and could not have been achieved without overcoming the hurdles of enlisting critical senators for its passage.

I sincerely believe that if President Obama could have achieved getting the Public Option, as part of what now seems to be health care reform legislation, he would have. He held several town meetings ( while working on climate change measures, containing two wars, fixing a faltering economy, etc.) in attempts to fire up the base in which he proclaimed his support for the Public Option. However, President Obama is not some mythical hero of our own creation. He is a realist. He had to make the political calculation and executive decision in favor of salvaging all the work that we have done to get to this point. I believe progressives who worked hard to make that happen fell short in helping him make universal health care a reality. Consequently, we were undermined by political and shrewd operatives in the U.S. Senate, corporate America, and republicans. We were outfoxed-- by some in our own party. There were so many competing interests with which to deal. Each having his, her, or its own agenda.

president ever. And, I'm simply tired of the people who are discrediting him that are a part of this community who initially supported him. He is accopmplishing everything he promised in the campaign, despite the racist and baseless attacks on the right, and the lack of support from those on the left. Remember, during the campaign, he often told us we are the change we've been waiting for. So far, it's been all Obama while the left observes as spectators, and the right earns its reputation as the party of "no" except for war.

David Letterman, having experienced being stalked by a female protagonist before, probably, finds former vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin's reactions to his "sicko" and inappropriate jokes hauntingly similar to that episodic period of his life. The jokes, however, are not the cause of the double standard women face in America. They are a symptom. Even more sinister, however, is the "fatal attraction" dynamic displayed in the Letterman/Palin showdown.

President Barack Obama addressed the graduates of Arizona State University on Wednesday. I think what he said was smart. Lately, he has received some criticsm for his reversal concerning the torture photos, however, I think the reversal demonstrates a "cognitive consciousness" that sometimes even liberals don't get.
