The New York Times, Paper of Record, Grey Lady, etc, etc, has apparently decided to run front page articles in its new role as key political advisor to Donald Trump.
Donald Trump, you see, isn’t able to run a rational political campaign. So the New York Times needs to help out, because otherwise, who would point out the obvious political attacks needed to keep the election from turning into a (fewer ads and revenue) blowout?
In this vein, we get the following:
FBI’s critique of Clinton is Ready Made Attack Ad
Perhaps. Certainly a reasonably well-run campaign would look for possible attacks.
“...in just a few minutes of remarks, Mr. Comey called into question Mrs. Clinton’s claims of superiority more memorably, mightily and effectively than Mr. Trump has over the entire past year.”
And we certainly can’t have that, can we? Do you have any suggestions on how Mr. Trump can improve?
“To her charge that he is “reckless”, Mr. Trump may now respond by citing Mr. Comey’s rebuke: that Mrs. Clinton and her team “were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”
Good advice! Anything else?
“To her promises to defend the United States, Mr. Trump may now retort with Mr. Comey’s warning that “it is possible that hostile actors gained access” to Mrs. Clinton’s email account and the top secret information it contained.”
And so on from there. Helpful that we have the New York Times around to provide political advice to candidates! Of course, this all gets filed under "Political Analysis" (code for "Thumb Sucking"). You can read the rest yourself and decide at the link below.
By the way: that “Top Secret” information? 7 of the 8 emails considered “Top Secret” told us the stunning news that the CIA launches Drone attacks in Yemen and Pakistan. Good thing that’s “Top Secret”, because we sure wouldn’t want anybody to know! (The other one was about conversations with a foreign leader, which is always considered “Top Secret”)
And one more thing...just couldn’t let this line slide by:
“Yet the Director of the F.B.I. basically just called her out for having committed one of the most irresponsible moves in the modern history of the State Department.”
Yep, way more irresponsible than, say, getting arrested for spying, for example!

No hyperbole there! Sigh...only 4 more months of this.
