So it’s done, and for anyone who witnessed last week’s Prime Minister’s Question Time, you’ll be feeling like we did right by the rest of the world too. The relief was real, and the British response was by no means unique; there were similar parliamentary love-ins throughout the world.

For millions of Americans the experience was intoxicating, after suffering so many years of humiliation, as that (not so) ex-drunk playboy, John-Wayne’d his way through his presidency, wandering the globe shooting from the mouth, and diminishing the hard earned reputation of this once revered nation.

Photobucket Since yesterday’s news that the morally and ethically corrupt Ted ‘bridge to nowhere’ Stevens is now officially legally corrupt too, the Get Off (my lawn) Party has been running around telling anyone that’ll listen there's a distinct possibility Democrats could win enough new Senate seats to achieve a really scary ‘filibuster proof’ Senate.

As you all know that's a Senate comprising sixty (of the one hundred) senators who belong to, or are prepared to vote for the same party, thus securing said party with a large enough majority to avoid a ‘filibuster’.

I apologise for this diary, but I am just sooo relieved that all seems well on fabulous Wall Street again.

Phew! that was a close one eh? I mean, all those insanely rich bankers nearly had to face up to their own losses, but fortunately it appears that someone claiming to act on behalf of all US taxpayers is going to jump in before any such nonsense can occur.

The US taxpayer is kindly going to underwrite all their losses, and cover their extremely corpulent glutei maximi.

Good to see another Barackattack on the stump today, he’s letting McNasty know that his number‘s up, well at least the number of houses he owns, from 4 to 7...

Though I feel BO could’ve gone after him even harder, the McCain camp's response is just a treat.

Average Americans are suffering even if Johnny Mc7Cribs isn’t. Most of us have one house, and many of us are struggling to keep hold of that one house, but enough of us have lost that struggle to expect a presidential candidate, even one as rich as McCain, to be sensitive to the suffering of his fellow Americans, anything less is just disrespectful. Then again, lack of respect seems to be becoming a theme of his campaign.

This latest stumble coming after McCain’s own economical adviser; Phil Gram had the f*ing gall to scoff at us, calling us ‘a nation of whiners‘. Gram's shameful coments made as millions of Americans suffer under abject circumstances he helped cause.

Of course Mc7Cribs distanced himself from those remarks for a couple of days, but I really believe he has a problem acknowledging that times are hard, and there's a great opportunity here.

Palpably Magoo is not a happy camper at the moment, even the Bush administration seems to have turned their back on him, refusing him even the tiniest of favors to bomb, bomb, Iran. Instead, they seem hell bent on adopting Obama's loony liberal, soft on terror ideas, and opening up a bit of dialogue with the bad guys.

But, Magoo knows wars aren’t won by talking, he knows how to WIN wars properly, you know, by using special secret strategies and breaking things and hurting people.

Here’s a man who knows how to win wars, he’s a self-proclaimed war winner, it’s his strength and he's determined to play to it. But, if no one’s at war, how can he possibly win one? Magoo needs a war and it seems he’s decided, that if no one's prepared to start one for him, he's gonna start one himself.

What a fucking circus that was! it left me absolutely livid, I lost sleep last night thinking about it and woke up this morning still stewing on it. The committee provided such a smorgasbord of contemptuous attitudes for the American people to pick from, and reserved something a little extra special for all people of the Muslim faith, not bad for a few hours of a non-event.

Proceedings were actually interrupted at one point by a Republican asking how much longer it was likely to go on for, after all, some of them had to travel...travel!

I really don’t know what they were doing there in the first place and feel myself in agreement with this administration’s most ardent supporters on the issue. They’re right! it was a tin-pot show (non)trial, which in a way, I suppose is fairly appropriate, for such a tin-pot show (non)administration. If that was a judiciary committee, and the inference is that somewhere in all of it, there was justice, then I’m a fucking ballpoint pen.

First let me say that I’ve been upset by Obama’s silence on the issue, but unlike the hordes of trolls on here today and although it's annoyed me, even made me question a little, he's still gonna get my support.

I’ve thought about it a lot and seen many of the arguments for and against our beloved one and I understand most of them, but I believe that today should've been above petty politicking.

Protecting your great constitution should never be a political issue, I am sure that even the founding fathers with their amazing foresight would never have considered that elected members of the US congress would one day be debating whether or not a key element of the constitution should be retrospectively amended in part to offer an amnesty against prosecution to those that had ignored it.

What’s more I find it galling that these people claim to be representing ‘the people’ as I firmly believe had HR6304 been a public referendum it would have failed by a landslide.

Please follow me over the hump, I really need to vent.

This thing has been brewing, I mean we all know what's gonna happen here, but I'm stunned at the passivity, we seem to be accepting this as an 'inevitability'.

I know, I shouldn't read anything into those recent Air Force sackings, I mean the guys nearly nuked the nation which I guess is sufficient grounds for dismissal. But, I just can't help thinking that it all conveniently fits into some grand plot to attack Didyoueatmydinnerdad and the good people of Iran.

I watched the truly excellent David Novack documentary ‘Burning the Future’ last weekend. The film focuses on the effects certain coal industry practises have on the communities of West Virginia.

So, shortly before Hillary's latest and greatest of unpalatable mutterings conjuring up images of assassinated presidential nominees, she had called for a change in the primary process.

On the surface, unlike the extreme hypocrisy of her push for MI and FL delegates to be seated, this call seemed quite selfless, after all there’s no doubt that her campaign has benefited most from the ‘flaws’ of the current system. But, as is often with Hillary things weren’t quite what they seemed and her call was for a ’more democratic system' one in which ‘all Americans’ would be counted, she's a 'one person, one vote' kinda gal!

Of course, this neatly infers that the current primary system is undemocratic and therefore any selection (read Obama) made by such an undemocratic system has to be---well, undemocratic.

Although the system needs changing the last thing it needs to be is more ‘open’. The primary process takes place in order for the membership of political parties to nominate their respective presidential candidates and as such the choice should be made solely by party members, whether Republican or Democratic. It is NOT a general election.

I was reading an article on the CNN website today and glanced the comments, I guess the ‘chaos’ people hadn’t woken up by then as there were none of the usual ‘Obama’s gonna join Hezbollah as soon as he’s president’ and ‘check out this picture of Obama burning the flag’ comments, it was almost refreshing.

One brief comment stood out as being pro-Clinton it said ‘Clinton should run as an independent’.

It may be that the person was just trying to stir things up a little, but I have to admit the threat of Clinton running as an independent has been in the back of my mind for a while now. I remember when London held its first ever mayoral contest, the man who would ultimately became London‘s first mayor; Ken Livingstone, announced that he was going to run as an independent after having the Labour party’s nomination taken from him.

I’ve been resident here in the US for some five or six years since arriving from the UK. I followed politics quite closely at home but what passes for politics here in the US had never galvanized my interest on the same level, that is, until recently.

We, that’s me and the rest of the planet’s population, tried to come to terms with what had happened 4 years ago when a record number of your fellow citizens re-elected a president who was in the midst of executing perhaps the most unpopular US foreign policy in world history.

This election gave him a pretty strong mandate to continue his extremely unpopular policies, he had received more votes than any president before him.

Wow! I can tell you we were stunned.
