I accuse…the Koch brothers who have abused their wealth to subvert governments at every level
I accuse…the Walton family who abuse their employees to line their own pockets and to make them vulnerable to the lures of demagogues with simple answers.
I accuse…the compliant and greedy press who
- track eyeballs for easy money
- indulge in false equivalence instead of journalism
- fail to correct repeated falsehoods and passively spread the Big Lie
I accuse…the half of Americans who, given the power of the franchise, chose not to educate themselves, register and vote.
I accuse…the Republicans who have worked to wreck government to prove their claim that government doesn’t work
I accuse…racists that voted for Trump
I accuse…the fast food industry that does not pay its workers a living wage and leaves them so overworked that participation in politics has a higher cost.
I accuse…any Bernie voters who failed to live up to the social compact that a vote in a primary commits the voter to the winner of the primary.
I accuse…the Republican voters who voted out of habit or family custom or inertia, failing to learn that their nominee was a bankrupt sexual harasser endorsed by the KKK.
I accuse…the Russians of violating our national autonomy.
I accuse…any women who voted for a known sexual harasser.
I accuse…the entertainment industry that for decades has shown a world run by men who use women as toys and in so doing has warped the imaginations of many.
I accuse…all Americans afraid of “the other,” whether that other is different in skin or sex or different in location or income.
I accuse…Democrats who voted for Obama but did not turn up for Clinton.
I accuse…Judicial Watch and all those who poisoned the public mind against Hillary Clinton.
I accuse…people of color who voted for someone who would deport their brothers and sisters or encourage the hard fist of police.
I accuse…Republicans who have followed a Southern Strategy since Nixon
You start out in 1954 by saying, “Nigger, nigger, nigger.” By 1968 you can't say “nigger” — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “Nigger, nigger.”
I accuse…Democrats who have abandoned people in red states and failed to follow a fifty state strategy.
I accuse…Bernie Sanders for insinuations of corruption without foundation and setting expectations of Hillary Clinton that no man has had to meet.
I accuse…Hillary Clinton of not using her eight years since 2008 to rebuild the Democratic party in every state and grow a bench of younger and capable candidates.
I accuse…the human heart, that ever for all time finds the wrong in others and the right in itself
I accuse…myself
- for not doing everything humanly possible for change
- for not respecting the dignity of every human being, even those I disagree with
- for not loving my neighbor as myself
