My personal life is going fine. I do worry a bit about my grandkids and their father, though. After this morning’s news, maybe I should worry more about myself — even I can’t stay home all the time.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

The citizens of Paris get to help decide what the city’s budget gets spent on.
From Food & Wine: The next trend in craft beer? Me, I will be happy when IPA falls out of fashion — I don’t actively dislike it, but sometimes I want a beer and IPA is all that’s available at the store I’m in. Not happy-making. I’m most fond of oatmeal stout, though I do enjoy other variations on the theme.
There’s a warning out in Portland that ICE agents are impersonating NW Natural Gas employees.
From Allrecipes: Eggs Benedict Breakfast Pizza. I’m one of the few I’m sure of who’s not fond of Eggs Benedict, but this recipe does look interesting.

ICE isn’t the Gestapo. That comparison lets America off the hook. Our own history is so firmly against blaming Germany that Germany got their ideas from US. Don’t believe me, look up the history of eugenics.

As you can probably tell, a lot more caught my eye online this week than is usual.
I’m starting to get my 2025 1099 tax forms. I don’t know how many I will get — probably six, but it could be more (four so far). I probably won’t file till sometime in April, but I do need to keep track of the paperwork.
My utilities are paid for the month. Both less than I budgeted, which in winter is not guaranteed.
My daughter had a commitment yesterday afternoon, and the restaurant the kids want to go to only does dinner (I think I recall doing lunch there, but it was before the pandemic lockdown). So we’re going for an early dinner this afternoon.
The news is not good. I will see where I can afford to donate.
Over on BlueSky, I replied to somebody’s post about having made shepherd’s pie (it looked delicious, by the way) by asking if he’d made it with beef, in which case it was cottage pie, since shepherd’s pie called for mutton or lamb. Yes, I read a lot of British mysteries, why do you ask? Anyway, I didn’t think so many people would notice. Ah, well — it’s something to take the mind off what’s going on around the country.
