March 23, 2010. I watched on television, tears streaming down my face, as Barack Obama signed the health reform law one letter at a time, to maximize the number of signing pens. The moment was full of emotion for me. Finally, there was recognition that people with pre-existing conditions have become second-class citizens in America when it comes to getting health insurance. Finally, America was reaching a hand out to us, the chronically ill.

Now that the Republicans have accomplished their goal of buying themselves a month in which to delay health care reform, we have to worry about what they're going to do with that month. It's already begun.

Today in the United States Senate, Chris Dodd (D-CT) gave one of what he's promised will be daily talks on the Floor about health care reform. He started to tell the story of a constituent, Theresa, who has several auto-immune illnesses and doesn't have health insurance.
