A CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll asked respondents: If the election for President were held this year, would you vote for President Bush or for the Democratic candidate?

Vote for Bush: 39%
Vote for the Democrat: 55%

Hypothetical matchup of the year: Bush in `05 vs McGovern `72. I'd take McGovern 2:1.

I think its pathetic that Dem Hacks like you dismiss the notion of supporting Bloomberg while calling Senator Clinton's actions "dangerous" for barely supporting Ferrer, with out doing your homework.
Bloomberg is not even close to a Republican by the national GOP standards. He stands for abortion rights (opposed Roberts unlike most Dem's), gay rights, immigrants' rights, and gun control. Bloomberg is not even a true Republican: Until '01, he was a registered Dem, and a liberal one actually. When Bloomberg ran for mayor in '01 he wanted to avoid a crowded primary and so he run under the GOP.

A new WNBC/Marist Poll poll asked Republican voters and Democratic voters who they would support for President in their respective Primaries. Tip: DC Debate.

For Republicans: Giuliani leads McCain 31% to 24%. However if Condoleezza Rice runs, her and Giuliani tie with 21%, while McCain comes in third with 19%. Rice has said she will not run.

For Democrats: Hillary Clinton leads with 41%, and the closest second is John Kerry with 17%. Read More

The AP reports that Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) won $853,492 in the Powerball lottery.

The senator was one of 47 players who picked five winning numbers but missed the bonus digit that would have gotten them the $340 million jackpot.

Gregg should donate that money to an organization that really needs it...like the Republican Party.

(Post courtesy of DC Debate.com)Congress now has its worst approval ratings in decades -- approval is at 29%, while disapproval is at 64%, according to Gallup. Currently, less than 3 out of 10 Americans approve of the way congress is doing its job. In a Diageo/Hotline Poll conducted during the same period, congressional approval is 29% while disapproval is at 62%.

I'd rather be in the minority when disapproval is this low. Is there a more perfect time for a midterm convention?

"In every Virginia governor's race since 1973, voters have selected the candidate from the opposite party of the one that controls the White House," the Washington Post points out.

This is good news - and it follows a basic mid-term rationale. Hopefully Kaine thwarts of the swift-boating for another 3 weeks.

According to a new Survey USA poll by way of DC Debate.com, President Bush has a negative net-approval in 22 states that voted for him in 2004. The largest negative net-approval in a state Bush won in `04 is Ohio, where 37% approve and 61% disapprove.

Utah has the highest Bush approval in the Country, with 61% approving of his job, and 36% disapproving.

If you think he's hit rock-bottom, guess again. There's still Plame and Miers in the short-term to drag him even lower.

According to DC Debate.com, the Boston Globe reports that the governor's of Utah and New Mexico announced plans last week to recruit other Rocky Mountain states to join a big-bang Western presidential primary Feb. 5, 2008. "They want to counter the Iowa and New Hampshire duopoly and put Western issues in play early in the presidential race."

The move would clearly benefit Democratic presidential prospect Bill Richardson (NM). Read More
