Gotta beef with the Obama administration? Wanna win friends and influence people? Have an agenda you want to promote via a respected news venue?

Well, as if it hasn't been easy enough in the past to spread your propaganda by greasing the media's sweaty palm, now it's been made even easier by the Washington Post, which has announced that it is "offering lobbyists and association executives off-the-record, nonconfrontational access to 'those powerful few' — Obama administration officials, members of Congress and the paper’s own reporters and editors".

And it'll only cost you 25-250,000 dollars!

I was taught not to tattle, but when I read noweasel's recent top o' the rec list diary, citing threats of violence against Obama at Free Republic, I promptly forwarded it to my cousin at the FBI.

Politico's Jonathan Martin rudely interrupted a friendly, informal visit by President Obama to the White House press area with a sharp question.

Obama handled it graciously, as always.

Politico reported it reasonably, as always.

HuffPost preyed off it and spectacularized the crap out of it, as always.

Well, check this out:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Some things never change. Scientists said on Friday they had replicated an experiment in which people obediently delivered painful shocks to others if encouraged to do so by authority figures.

Seventy percent of volunteers continued to administer electrical shocks -- or at least they believed they were doing so -- even after an actor claimed they were painful, Jerry Burger of Santa Clara University in California found.

David Sirota, in a piece for Salon, sagely insists that

"Dems have to abandon their own worst habits. [...] They must acknowledge their progressive mandate, rather than denying it as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid did on Tuesday. "This is not a mandate for a political party or an ideology," he fearfully told reporters.

Aarrgghh. Harry Reid needs a slap. He needs to be woken from his torpor. This is the moment, dammit, and we can't have wishy-washy 'leaders' like Reid lying around like banana peels for Obama to slip on.
